Smile How do I locate the city listed in a Craigslist ad??

When reading the daily craigslist reposts here on PachiTalk, sometimes it can be hard to tell where exactly the seller's city is and how far the machine is from you. The RSS feeds I get from Craigslist don't provide me with the state the ad came from, only the city as stated in the ad. Often times there are more than one city with the same name in the U.S. So how can we figure out where exactly that machine is located??

I had some time on my hands today so I pondered this question. I poked around a little and found an easy way to locate the city the ad was posted in. Just follow these steps:

    1) Open the Craigslist ad by clicking on the link in the thread.

    2) Click on the city link in the upper left of the Craigslist ad. It will take you the main Craigslist page for that city.

    3) On the main city page, click on the 'W' to the right of the city name.

    4) The link will take you to the Wikipedia page for that city. From there you can see what state it is located in, then use Google Maps (if desired) to see how far it is from you.

There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

I usually always use the nearby cities to determine the state.

    100 machines and counting...

Thanks a lot! I have often tried Google maps only to find several states they could be in! I thought you didn't get the state, otherwise you would have listed it! This is very useful, and I will be taking advantage of it!
