    Default pinball/pachi room

finally moved in and loaded up the basement. spent the next few days taking boxes from the basement up to the various rooms which was no fun at all but counted as hitting the gym. so the previous owner was big into trains which is why the walls are different colors. they used one whole side of the basement as part of a diorama. what looks like a large crack in the wall is actually faux grass stuck there.the basement is unfinished and in the future the plan is to level the concrete, carpet, redo the walls, etc. basically the whole nine yards. the kings & queens pin was the last one i shopped and fixed before the move and i was enjoying it quite a bit hence it being set up for an xmas eve get together.
the pics are of a particular spot which is about 1/6th of the total basement area and will be for either some of the pins or all of the arrangeballs. i've got 4 more pins that aren't shown so they will likely go on the opposite side with all the rest. i've also got the san diego arrange ball at a friend's house and i just picked up another Taiyo which is in shipment so lots of counter top space will be needed. don't know when all that will happen but at least they're all out of the storage unit and can all be played.

Looks like you have plenty of room. The walls look like a color testing area.Show more pics when you get time

managed to set up a few more pins but the basement is still far from completion. so not much to show. luckily these 4 pins survived the cross country trip with no adjustments necessary once i had them back together. the '59 Universe on the far right is getting new plastics put on it and a few other repro parts. i'll be able to get 5 across that wall at some point. the house i just bought is 110 years old so it's full of character and very cool but also means lots of projects so i have to balance the house with basement set-up.

yeah it's definitely nice to finally have room. for the past 3+ years i've had a semi man cave but i could only keep 2 pins and a couple of arrange balls at any one time. all the rest had to stay in my storage unit. plus it was a seating area/dining room as well so i couldn't do any real painting/airbrushing,retr0brighting for restorations in there. i had to do all that outside which was in turn dictated by the weather. now i've got room for a dozen or so pins and all my arrangeballs. plus the previous owner left 3 large work benches that were too big to remove and lots of pegboards on the wall. definitely a nice change of pace.

got the machines off the floor and mounted to the wall. no, the tops aren't perfectly even but they'll all be coming back down in time for the basement refinishing, so i didn't spend a lot of energy making them all level with each other. i just made sure each machine was level and secure. i can fit one more machine to the right without getting in the way of the pinball machine and two more to the left. that still leaves me with 5 to find somewhere else to place.

got the rest of them up that are going on this wall. here's why i like to have individual power switches on each machine since there's no counter to sit things (power strips) on. i prefer the cleaner look of mounting to the wall with no chairs, etc. speaking of cleaner look, all the power cords will be gathered up and out of the way.

did a little revision on the arrangeball wall. i ended up mounting the machines to brackets so they'd be supported from the bottom as they are designed to be. i used 3" long masonry/plaster screws which look like augers basically. each bracket gets 2 and goes thru the plaster, wood lath, and then the cinder block behind that. the top bracket just uses one of the screws and then a machine screw extends down into the top of the machine and is secured from the inside with a wing nut to allow for easy removal if i need to take the machine down. also, a safety wire is attached to the top of each one and fastened to a 4X4 beam that runs above all the machines. the robots machine on the far right didn't get done since i ran out of screws but it'll get done in the next day or so and made to be more level with the others.
