    Default Damaged tray

This is the original tray from my model A that had many issues. The tray made me the maddest, because no photo showed the tray well in the auction. It was cracked with the corner missing, but this pic makes it look worse because I pried it open to get some unsatisfactory test glue out of the crack, and have it open to add good epoxy.crack 006.jpg I mixed a batch (last drops in the tube) on an advertisement card from junkmail pile, the ink dissolved and turned the epoxy purple! I used it because it was all I had left.crack 008.jpg As you can see, the crack is very visable due to the purple epoxy!crack 014.jpg This bothers me! I filled the hole.crack 019.jpg Rough fill...needs sanding and refilled...and more sanding. I added reinforcement to the inside of the corner. I will sand it to a smooth radius, as looks are less important than strength here. It is not a very noticeable spot anyhow. To fix the purple, I decided to use my dremel with a fine point, and carve out the epoxy and refill with uncolored epoxy. crack 027.jpg It looks like it will be successful. I don't have a need for it...yet. I used the tray from melted SideTross to replace it. I decided to fix this for my next broken tray machine.

Well looks like you are on your way. That crack will never look like it hasn't been there but my suggestion is to paint the tray. It will cover the crack and repairs while still making the tray look nice.

    100 machines and counting...

You are absolutely right! I did this before, on my 1st SBC. I overdid it... using 12ga copper wire like it was Rebar!009.jpg I think even with these pieces missing...007.jpg the epoxy was probably good enough. I've decided not to paint it because I am so happy with the repair. It is not so bad that I have to hide it. I am proud to show that if you try hard enough...YOU CAN FIX IT!

A few battle scars here and there just add character to a machine. Well done
