It wouldn't be the Holidays without some getting offended

In all seriousness, I have stopped wishing people "Happy Holidays" and went back to "Merry Christmas". That is how I was raised and I no longer worry about offending anyone. My friends who are of a different faith wish me a Merry Christmas each year, and I return the greeting with Happy Hanukkah or whatever is appropriate for their belief. In America, I think our society goes a little overboard at times trying not to offend the general public by being "politically correct", but it sometimes backfires and offends the people who weren't offended in the first place. It just proves that you can't please all of the people all of the time.

So... Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Feliz Navidad, Happy Kwanzaa and Season's Greetings to the entire PachiTalk community. May your celebrations be filled with excitement, laughter and the company of friends and family.

I don't know... Happy Holidays was never a 'bad' thing when I was growing up, it is not a new thing to say. A lot of Christmas cards said "Happy Holidays" or "Season's Greetings". I'm not really sure why it became a bad thing to say Happy Holidays... I am happy whenever anyone wishes me well, in whatever way they choose to say it. I see a lot of things posted on Facebook about this "Happy Holidays' thing and some of them are quite mean... and I don't think it represents the spirit of the season. My family is of mixed faiths, nobody is offended by any greeting. In the diner, I usually say Happy Holidays because our customers are of many faiths and I choose not to guess what is appropriate...but I have been doing that for years. If I know someone personally and know they are Christian, I do say Merry Christmas.

What does bother me though is referring to a Christmas tree as a holiday tree. Christmas is a holiday, so I am not offended by a Happy Holiday greeting, however a Christmas tree is just a Christmas tree and should be called such. My two cents, I guess we all have our issues.

I have given up on trying to be politically correct, especially when it comes to the Holidays.

Remember, the Grinch didn't steal Christmas, it was given to him freely by the politically correct.
