Default 1st Time Pachink buyer - Gladiator 9-Reel problem

I just bought the Gladiator 9-Reel Pachinko and have played it several times. Now the reward hopper when I put balls in they run through and come out in the ball shooter tray.

Does this mean if has a jam? The Main ball return motor seems to be cycling every 3 seconds. I looked inside it and no balls are jammed. No balls stuck in the reward hopper tray.
It mentions check to see if hopper release is closed. Are they talking about the two flippers that are after the reward hopper tray. That is closed.

When I have the machine plugged in but not turned on I put balls in the reward hopper and in the ball shooter tray. But, once I turn the game on all the balls in the reward hopper
run down into the ball shooter tray and sometimes into the overflow.

It mentions that hopper releases will open if pressed once, and closed if pressed a second time. What do they mean I don't see a button to press?

The upper left yellow light isn't on to say the reward hopper is empty either even though it is. It did come on the first few times I have used it.

    What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for any and all help.

if the balls are coming out to the front tray then it is trying to catch up on missed payouts. There is no memory reset on this machine like there is on most other moderns so just keep refilling the reward hopper. When it catches up it will stop and then as long as you keep the hopper filled this will not happen again. Remember, it could take a few thousand balls for it to catch up so it may take a while.

Welcome to PachiTalk, Tazman!! Thanks for joining the site and becoming a member of our community. I'm happy to see another member from Colorado.

Is that the Gladiator machine that was on craigslist in Westminster? The one with the custom white cabinet built around it? If so, I know where that machine originally came from and am positive that it is in top notch condition and works as designed.

Do you own any other Pachinko machines or pinballs?

Again, welcome to the Pachinko community. Please visit us daily and post often.

    Jeff,

Yes it is the one from Westminster. The owner was great and I will try this tonight as I am moving it up into my Bronco room.
    It came with 590 balls.

I don't own other Pachnko or Pachislo machine but hopefully I will. This one was too good to pass up. You should have seen
me transporting in my Mazda Miata with the top down.

I would love to afford one of the new video pachinko's. I see a pachinko's and pachislo's here in
Denver area on Craigslist. Anyone see those and care to comment on machine or price?

    I'll get a picture(s) when I get it moved.

    Thanks everyone

Yes - that machine initially came from an estate sale in Longmont. I was the first on the scene and had my pick of all seven Pachinko machines that were for sale. I much prefer vintage machines, so I bought three that I liked. All of the machines in that collection were in stellar condition!! The guy who owned them was quite handy with electronics, and he custom made the white cabinets for all of his machines. I considered that Gladiator machine at the time, but ended up passing on it. I saw it appear on Craigslist in Westminster about a month or two later.

I'm curious... was the seller's name "Kirk"?

As for the balls, I would recommend at least 1,000 for that machine, but 2,000 would be my preference. When you hit a fever on the machine, you will find that you spend more time moving balls from the bottom of the machine to the top hopper than you do enjoying the game. Balls are easy to find on eBay, and I always buy from a seller who goes by goldenstatetraders1. His name is Walter and he is honest and reliable.

Shoot me a private message if you ever want to get together sometime and see some different machines. I have Pachinkos in my collection dating from 1951 all the way to 2008.

Yes Jeff it was Kirk that I bought it from. He even just bought a Pachislo slot that was in his truck.

So while I am waiting for my friend to come and help me move it. I played it and got the Bonus mode and everything lit up and more music and singing. Very cool.

I hit the bonus now 4 times in the past half an hour. Not sure what level I made it to try to collect ten balls in the gate.

I did a video on my cell and will upload it here as long as it is good quality.

    Thanks everyone and amazing fun.

Thanks Jeff for the invite I'll have to do that.

    Welcome Aboard

One thing to rememeber now, especially as you had 4 wins together, Your machine will want to payout approx 8000 balls. So you will have a lot of refilling to do for a while to clear the back log. The most I ever had was 11 in a row, But I know some members have had more. You can see the importance of having extra balls in a container on top of the machine.

Each fever didn't pay out but the Reward hopper was full with 500 balls. I emptied it right afterwards to move it. Now I will refill and see what happens.

Well just hit the fever again and no pay out. I do have the switch in the back moved to the right as the tag on the back suggests. So I wonder what is wrong why I get no payouts on anything not just the fevers.

Reward hopper I have 500 balls and the 90 in the ball shooter tray.

What should I look for? Does anyone know where the fuse and/or computer sensor is to check to see if those are bad?

Is the hopper track shut off in place. It looks like a little fork sometimes right at the top right of the ball track. Lift it out of the track and the balls will go into the payout mech.

Yes that was closed and locked. I pushed the tab to the right and all balls fell through. I was told that is suppose to be closed and locked. Is that right?

Also lights at the top are constantly flashing.

if by fell through you mean... they fell threw the back of the machine into your catch hopper.. thats the ball dump.. yes that is kept closed.. above the ball dump is a stop mech.. it is move into place to keep the balls above the ball dump.. it will also keep the balls from entering the jackpot mech and therefor keep your machine from paying out..

it sounds like you have found the ball dump.. if your balls are making it to the dump mech then my guess is your payout motor is jamed up... has your machine ever made a payout??

Yes the ball go from the Reward hopper all the way down into the ball box tray. That is once I changed the switch on the hopper release.

No I hadn't had it give out pay out I just got this like a week ago.

I did have to put several thousand balls thru the Reward hopper to get it to catch up on any rewards it had in in memory. Once I did that
the yellow light at the top went out. And then now the very top lights in the center flash non stop.

You can see the light lit on my avatar.

Should I change the hopper release switch back to lock the levers on the hopper ball track?

    Anything else I can check?
