Default Post your tulip opening mechanisms and how they work.

A ball in any one of 4 pay pockets will open the upper center tulip.

A ball in ether one of the bottom pay pockets, will open the tulip next to that pay pocket.

My Nishijin Model A has two rows of tulips along the bottom half of the playfield.

All of them work independently. The top row uses what I call a two-mode tulip. It simply opens and closes with each ball that passes through it. The bottom two are what I call the three-mode tulip. The way it is played, is a ball drops through to open it. It will remain open after a second ball passes through. The third ball to enter will cause it to close. It's a rather ingenious mechanical marvel the way they engineered it. I was so impressed with this simple but brilliant device that I made an animation of it:

How about some pictures of the fronts too.

The fronts are just as cool as the backs. (actually some are cooler)

    100 machines and counting...

    Bumping a zombie post...

In my recent YouTube binge idea trolling... came across some 2's as mentions above
but also a few 5s, then a 6 & 7 open tulip... am going to assume these are not mechanical
but servo driven, especially in the tracking of how many entered in tight groups...

Spent a while figuring out how to render it digitally in my system but is working now.
The one I patterned it on was cascading sets of the 5 open tulips, and another with
    cascading 7-7-6 open tulips.

There is also the 'not a tulip' category like the toucans in the last picture.
That was an interesting challenge also, works but needs a bit more refining...

Back once again with another identification question...
    C_Tulip.jpg
Is this a 100 open Tulip???
Watching the video the right most 5 tulip is tweaked to be impossible and
at the end he manually loads 5 into it just to shut the machine up...

Previous have found up to 7 open tulips - now most of these are years old
videos and in Japanese so am using guesswork and gathering data...
