Today. Cut out the two full length supports. Then got busy with the sledgehammer and rubble. Ready for the whacker But not at this time of night on a Sunday.

To keep some peace in the clam tank. Took the missus and baby clam up to London last weekend. Went to see Santa in Harrods and spent to much money on condition that I have this week free to get on with stuff at home.

So the steel work has gone in. Rods gone into the original foundations and chemical anchoured into place. Shuttering in to seperate the old section of floor and prevent the wet cement from spreading.

Then just as it was getting dark, the sand arrived.

Still a few little bits to sort out like polysterene around the leg holding up the model railway, so it can be removed at a later point

That looks like a lot of work, but I guess if you pour it, then you won't really have to worry too much about weight on it anymore!

    Update

Well the bottom slab is now in. Need to put a latex membrane down next before polysterene then the final top coat of cement. But we need to strip some of the outer cladding off to make sure the rot hasn't got into the bottom of the walls. Its hard because we have nowhere to store the spare couches that are in here.

Not to be slacking during the holiday period. Dug up the rose bushes on the outside wall, Pulled off the bottom two rows of cladding. Propped up the roof beams on the new slab. Got the final bottom of the floor cut out on 1/2 of the base. Now assisted by engineering bricks. Hope to put a row of bricks down and new treated timber on this half, at the weekend.

Already thinking of how to refit the pachis when completed

    Another weekend, another update

Ok well after today 2/3rd of the wall base now replaced with brickwork and on top of that 1/2 the base now has new timbers in place. Hope to get the last of the wood out next week and finish off the walls. Then we can pour the latex sealer over the concrete slab

    Another poor quality iphone picture

I guess different countries use different products

I say latex, Its actual a rubber bitumen mix, But latex is easier to type
it will take 4 of these 5L cans to do the floor at £25 each (approx $35)

please post a pic of finished floor... we treat out concrete a bit different.. when we need water proof concrete we put chemicals inside the concrete.. there are a few waterproofers that are applyed after the concrete has cured but not really used as a floor covering...

very interesting.. we get calls from time to time about people converting gerage space to living space.. hear in California the floor has to have a water barier in place befor ya can use it.. something like tha would make it easy..

    thanks

A way to go yet. On top of this coating. We are going to put a 2" polystyrene layer followed by the final cement screen

Update time. I didn't spend all weekend playing with my new toys (I wish)

Put the last coat of rubber bitumen on, followed by a polythene sheet, On top of that went the polystrene, We also managed to put the final concrete in, (no pics of that as was too late) I'm not sure if we will put another coat of sealent yet, We will see when in drys.

I'll try to get another pic tomorrow

    Just for moparformance.
here is a picture of the concrete
if all goes well, Should be able to put the wood floor back this weekend Thinking about the weight of my last two pachis. I think the wall mounted cabinets will be replaced with floor standing ones also fitted to the wall for extra support. Now got to dig through the threads to find optimum height (hint hint) as these are to far off the floor, great for standing a playing but not good on the stools
