    Unhappy Rotten to the core

    Well I hope not...

I was a little disturbed that the floor in my games room/ glorified garden shed was a little flexible under where you stand to play Cutie Honey So yesterday aafter I picked up the wife from work and she and Jr Clam had gone for an evening nap I got to work. Pulling up a section of wood floor and the protective foam insulation beneath it. The first 8x4 marine ply is completely rotten and so is the beams that supportted them. The next sheet doesn't look to good either. Looks like dry rot. Looks like I'll have to take the entire floor up and put a larger concrete base down. Next I'll have to take some of the external cladding off and make sure the rot hasn't got into the walls as well. But with looking after baby clam, winter coming and that next week BST ends. No time to get anthing done.

I know it's a pain pulling up flooring and replacing beams. When I was a kid my uncle fell through my grandmothers bathroom floor. They had to remove the bath tub and toilet and all the flooring, then rebuild. What a pain that was.

The floor was 3/4 ply. I took all the machines out after work today and safey stored in the study. Looks like the first beam started to rot and took the flooring with it. Problem is that it also goes under the model railway. and that can't be removed. Loks like I'll be taking the whole floor up in 4ft sections and filling the void with hardcore and concrete. It will take a while But I'll get it done. Buildign was made out of wood because we live in a conservation area and a permentent brick building wouldn't be allowed. Might have to build some of the walls up with a brick layer maybe a foot high We will see.

I know its not as bad as some of the other members problems. But I'll take the chance to redo the cabinets to make it easier to swap pachis and fit quick connectors to the wiring. So having 1 transformer per cabinet not 1 per machine. It will also mean that the battle counters are always wired up too But with stuff coming from Japan next month. Things will take time.

Could you possibly brace a new beam under the floor and secure it then take out the old rotten one, so the floor won't collapse under the railway track. Then reconstruct.

That's a scary hole! I've got a full basement so hopefully I'd see any issues from below before I ended up falling through from above! Don't you hate having to do repairs and that cutting in to the time and money you could be spending on new toys?
