    Default New Nishijin Sophia

Just picked up this old one. I can post more pictures later but for now this sophia seems a little unique or just old because of the non-tulip tulips. These have entry from the sides.
Anyone know much about this one?

Yes I know it has some problems, but if it won't make project machine, it may be for parts later

    Hi!

    http://pachinkoplanet.com/zencart/in...page=page&id=9

1973 Nishijin Shiroi Kamome with the center attraction commonly called the "Green Star". If you look in the lower left of the playfield behind the ball loading door you will find the designation "48S-B"

Great entry-level machine and a restoration that will teach you alot!

Well for a while I thought the frame was out of whack and needed to be rebuilt because of the angle it sat was about 1" out of plumb. CarlW set me straight on that luckily the screws weren't long enough to hold the feet to the frame after I jammed some wedges between the feet and the frame. I will be using just the feet this time (hardwood 4/4 wood about 5" wide.)
Also the balls just fell right thru from the hopper at the top, but again I have something to check (thanks, CarlW)
A lot of the parts are rusty, especially the metal connecting rods in the back.
    Filth and dirt.
There are no covers for the jackpot mechanism in the middle or for the payoff see-saw in the little opening.
I don't think I have found all the problems because I spent too much time worrying about the frame. I can post more pictures later.
    Thanks for your interest.
    Steve

sounds like you don't have the ball dump latch hooked. It is on the right side of the machine. Near the brown track that goes into the jackpot mec. There is a metal tab there that you can pull you need to pull it till it clicks in with the other ones. (you don't need a lot of force. If a ton of force is required something is wrong.)

    More pictures would be great.

It sounds like it is missing the common covers. They aren't important they don't really do much of anything but keeping your fingers out of the mechanics. Other thant that is sounds like your machine needs just a good cleaning.

    100 machines and counting...
