Default I am back, But with some sad news.

Hi to all those out there who know me. (And to those who don't)
I have been away for a while.
My wife and i went on holiday the last two weeks in July, For our Silver wedding
When we came back our son Guy passed away on the first of August.
He was twenty two years old, He was our only child and meant the world to us.
His passing has destroyed my wife and i, And it will be a long time before we can try to start our lives as before.
I was not going to give the reason for Guy's death on what is after all a gaming forum, but if we can help one other person through a dark time in there life.
Then i think that it is worth it.
Guy took his own life and we will never know why, He left a note saying that this is what he wanted, and expressed his love for us all.
If anyone out there feels that they have had enough of this life, PLEASE! talk to someone there are people out there who care and will listen.
You can even P.M. me I will give you my home number and i will talk to you
Sorry to use Pachitalk for my little crusade i hope you understand.

Love to you all Derek and Jean Shaw.

Oh, my! I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Makes the rest of our troubles seem so insignificant.

Our daughter is 22, and I know we would be devastated if something were to happen to her.

Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers as you try to pull through these tough times.

Oh Derek, I am so sorry to hear of your loss, my condolences go out to you, your wife and your family.

I know it must have been very difficult for you to share your story here, but I applaud you. With so much pain in your heart, you are reaching out to others that may be going through their darkest hours.

I lost a brother of just 22 years of age a little more than 20 years ago. He passed of a prescription drug overdose during what was a very difficult period in his life and we will never know if it was intentional or a careless tragic accident. I don't know why, but our family decided to suffer in silence... to this day, and I believe that was the wrong approach to dealing with our grief.

I hope that you and your family can find the strength required to cope with your loss, find comfort in your beautiful memories and also allow yourselves to enjoy happy moments that present themselves to you even though it may be difficult to imagine that at this time. Peace to you.

A friend and coworker of mine went through the same thing with her only son in June. I was in the office with her when she received the call from him telling her goodbye. She stood up and she was white as a ghost. He was 20 years old and it was completely unexpected. He had lost a job and his girlfriend in the same week.

Too many young adults take their lives. I had the misfortune of being close to this twice now. I couldn't imagine going through this myself. I am so sorry for your loss and commend you for stepping up to the plate despite it. This tragedy is nothing new, but a first step is to keep in close contact with our children as they reach adulthood. I realize I likely distance myself too much from my own children with my busy job and odd hours. I will make a conscious effort to spend more time with them.

I know my coworker was an exceptional mother. Although she will never recover fully from what happened, I know she is now convinced that she could not have foreseen this, and was not responsible for his actions. Our lives must go on.

I am glad that you can talk about it and being able to reach out to help others. When my friend in High School committed suicide it was so gruesome and traumatic. He was found on the side of the road in a sleeping bag with a shot gun. He had shot himself in the face. Being 16 it was hard, I couldn't talk to anyone and felt that no one was there for me. It took me 5 years before I contacted a friend to talk and let her know how I felt about it. She didn't have the time for my phone call. Thank god another friend realized I needed someone and stepped in. Being there for people really does make a difference. Trust me, experiencing it first hand I can honestly say. Thank You! Thank you for reaching out. For some there really is no one there for them.

I think it was so difficult for me because all the "Signs" were there. I was young, did not notice what was happening, and in turn felt responsible. So responsible I didn't talk for 2 weeks. Fell into depression and almost lost it myself. A phone call, or even email could really make that much of a difference.

I can't say I know what you are dealing with as I don't have any children but I do understand loss. In the last 6 months I lost my mom and my best friend's mom just over a month apart and I have had 3 friends take their own lives with guns and 3 with drugs. Everyone in town is hurting right now from this and I worry because so many seem to be hermiting to deal with the pain and not wanting to talk to anyone.

Derek, I am deeply sorry about your loss. Our son just returned from Iraq a few days ago after a 18 month deployment. My wife and I have been worried sick everyday and can only imagine what you and your wqife must be going through. You and your family are certainly in our prayers.
