    Default Satomi ArrangeBall Cel Artwork

This particular Satomi has probably my favorite graphics of any arrangeball and according to my research, was made in '75.
So I was looking thru one of my pinball books and came across a Williams "Stardust" pinball from 1972. The artwork on the backglass was done by the French artist Christian Marche. His style is very angular and and very recognizable and it would seem that Satomi's designers were fans of his work.

    Neat background. Very cool.

It is fairly similar to one of my favorite artists. Here is his website: http://www.shag.com/gallery.html
I was thinking about having him make a custom background for a machine for us but then found some one else who would produce the same quality work but for less. I'll post some pictures of it when we get it. (it might take a while I think it has been at least a month since we first asked him)

    100 machines and counting...

I definitely know about Shag and have a couple of his prints in my house. I'm sure you've already been to Shagmart.I also enjoy Marche's work. Check out his work on Williams pins- I'm not sure if he did any for Bally but he did a lot of back glasses. I'd like to have a coffee table book with his stuff in it.

Yes we have a few of his prints too. We have also been to his store in palm springs. And we went to Cal State Fullerton where they were showing more the 200 of his original works. (That was a great exibhit.) The thing I like most is that he lives in Orange County.

Sorry no pics on this one.

Probably would be really cool to have a coffe table book with all his art.

Thanks for the links- I had been to one before. I don't think there's any dedicated books on his work. I've seen much of his work in 4 pinball compendiums the I have from schiffer publishing. There's lots of Shag prints I want-especially "wives with knives".

I really like Mr. Cuddles and the Inspector http://www.shag.com/!Prints/SWATmrcuddlesinspector.html

Also his disneyland ones are good. (especially the enchanted tiki room and tomarrow land)

yeah planning. We're planning on him making us a background so we could go and put it on five machines and auction them off to the tiki community (it would go for less on ebay you have to sell it to people who know derek's work) Plus we want a tiki background to put on the machine I have as my avatar.
