Nice job...cabinet looks good...always a sense of accomplishment when you get all the parts put back together!
I'm not addicted to Pachinkos. I can quit at any time. Did I tell you about the three machines that I have on the way?

BigDog, Thank you, I used plain old 1 x 8 pine, painted, nothing fancy, and all the good folks here 'walked me thru' all the fixes I needed.
Great site, great folks...Thanks again to all.

Congrats! Always nice to see another 1973 returned to service. I just finished tearing down another 1973 myself, playfield graphic scan sent out for restoration not 5 minutes ago.

Another one of those 5-bulb 3-switch units. I need to draw a schematic for that someday when I have a little free time. The one I just tore down is the same way.

I am not an electrician by any means, know some 'basic' stuff, but I did buy on an auction site some info, which included wiring diagrams, very generic. I will try and attach what i scanned from the docs...hope this is allowed.

Not a bad little tutorial there, for the basic 2-switch setup.

    Thanks for the pictures.

Is the duct tape holding in the lights or just as an extra means to keep them inplace? Are those bulbs or LEDs in there (sorry hard to tell in the picture)?

When I think of it I can post better info as I also have one with 2 switches in the payout, makes it more fun as it makes the lights chase as one is triggered by the seesaw and the other by the arm that works the payout.

Yes the Duct tape is holding standard bulbs in place, as the rubber grommets dried out and crumbled. In fact, pieces of the dried out grommets found their way into the tracks and tulip mechanisms, which caused some jamming.

I have heard you can get new grommets at some radio shacks, but that they were a bit pricey. I have these available if interested:

and I know William has similar kits.

I have found replacement grommets that fit perfectly at Lowes and Ace Hardware.

I found a gromet that fits perfectly around 10mm LED's and it fits great in the bulb holders. I buy mine at a electronic parts store (oh so fun to go to so many cool things in there it is like an electrician's dream place. here is their website http://www.marvac.com/) But otherwise Ace should have them fairly cheap. Also depending on how many machines you plan on doing you can also order a package of them off the internet.

@ James: James where do you get all those wallwarts? And why are you selling 12v and not something like 9v?

    mxfaiman,

I ordered a ton of those wall warts so that i could make the kits, and got a decent bulk rate. I went with 12VDC because I wanted the brightest bulbs I could get that would still fit in the original sockets, and would not get too hot. I wanted to make kits that required no soldering, and 9VDC just does not do it for me when using 10VDC bulbs. You would have to replace all of the bulbs anyway with 9VDC ones. So I went with a full-on 12VDC kit. The original wires can carry far more amperage than I am supplying anyway. I have fitted 5 machines with this kit and they really look a lot brighter than the ones I first fitted with 9VDC batteries. Of course, there are tradeoffs of using a wall wart vs a battery. It's just a matter of what you are looking for, personal preference and all that. For the curious, it takes about 3 seconds for a 10VDC bulb to burn out when supplied with 12VDC, but man does it shine bright for those 3 seconds!
