    Default Wife's gonna kill me!!!

Wife's outta town...Went to a "barn sale" this morning and found a pachislo. Just couldn't pass it up! Still new to pachislos so if anybody can give me info on this machine, it would appreciated. It's an Olympia "Lupin the Third". Talked the seller down to 70 bucks...good deal or not...I don't know. Came with around 700 tokens. Had to replace two mini wedge bulbs. There's a door key, but no reset key. Not sure what I'll do if I have to do a reset??? Interesting feature on the top part of the machine...There's a guy running (would that be Lupin?) and a girl aiming a gun at him. Hitting a jackpot starts him running with the girl shooting at him. Not a video screen but little animated figures...kinda cool! Lots of lights and sounds and LOUD. Haven't found a volume control so may have to add some. There a little hearts that light up in a"C" shape beside the running guy when a jackpot is hit. They start lighting up and working their way around the "C". Sometimes they all end up lit...sometimes they only light up part of the way. Again, please let me know if you have any info on this machine.

That is lupin 3 by hiewa 2000.there are usually 2 volume controls on the juke box models. One at top left just below the left speaker, and one lower right to the right of the coin shoot about 4 inches away. Olympia and hiewa are a joint company and shared components. That machine designwas very popular in the late 90's to 2001.They are very strong machines.

    Nice purchase!
Here is what I would use for the reset switch:
Toggle Switch with On/Off Label Plate - RadioShack.com
As for volume controls, I've used these from Parts Express (with a Radio Shack knob):
    500 Ohm Potentiometer
as well as the ones from FTKServices. Like them both. The PE ones take more time to install & mount but are quicker to turn down when the wife comes home.

Thanks for the help in locating the volume control switches. Another question...There is a little button dohicky located just below the on/off switch and just above the reset...has some Japanese and the letters SW. See pic below. Is this for a soft reset or ??? Kind of afraid to push it until I know what it does. Does turning the door key to the left do a soft reset? No key for the reset switch inside the machine...seller stated they just turned it off and then back on to reset the machine (is that possible?) I'm not sure she understood what was meant by resetting the machine. Gonna keep my eye out for a reset key...are the the same for all Hiewa/Olympia machines of that era IMAG0121.jpgor would I be better off trying to put in a toggle switch?

keys should be different, a switch is best way to go, some machines will do a soft reset turning key to the left

If you feel brave you can remove the box the reset key cylinder is in (may have voltage in it so be careful!!!) and remove the lock itself. There should be a little nut and probably two "spring-pin-shrunk-wrapped" connectors going to it be extremely gentle when pulling them off. Once you have the lock out take it down to a lock smith (we have village key) and he should be able to cut you a key. Thats what I did and they had it made in less than an hour.

that little button is a reset for changeing the odds. There might be a reset button on the inside left of the door, about 3 inches in from the lock mech.turning the key to the left does do a soft reset. This machine is almost exactly like my flying momonga machine by olympia 1999. it is called a juke box style. They have really good border lights that do resemble a juke box. good quality stereo sound.Ihave never had any troubles with my olympia machine.Ihave had it since 2004.You could change the odds key with a toggle switch, just be really careful taking the power supply apart.good luck intelling your wife

I put a switch in a MillionGod and it worked and looked great. The wires were soldered And a funny clip held the lock in. Found a switch at Radio Shack that fit the hole Soldered it in place and shrink tubed the leads Works great, and looks good too! It is the red switch. The attached thumbnail is where I had to epoxy the nut after overtightening it and stripping the threads.

OK... this picture005.jpg was accidentally put where I wanted soldered and shrinktubed to be, so i backspaced it out and put the correct pic in place. The post showed the above pic in attached file box at bottom. So I went back to edit the post to try to remove the pic, I couldn't figure out how so I just explained it instead. When I saved changes...the attached file of the wrong pic is gone and all pics are supersized, with all pics in attached file box except the one that I tried to delete. So I included the pic that was explained but not seen.

OK...I had my first error code...E2...hopper error. Thought "What am I gonna do now...no reset key". Turned the machine off and then back on (like the seller had said they reset the machine) and low and behold it reset and is working fine. Couldn't resist pushing that little button marked SW to see if it would change the odds (I'm guessing it is set at 6) and immediately got an E4 error code. Turned the machine off and then back on and it reset. So the only thing I think I can't do without the reset key is change the odds. Another oddity...there is a button next to the joystick marked "Cancel". Thought maybe this was to cash in the credits but it doesn't and I can't see that it does anything. Oh yeah, one more thing...at the bottom of the semicircle of hearts that light up (next to the two figures at the top...see pic in first post), there is rectangle shape where the letter "H" or "L" occasionally light up when a jackpot is hit...now I can't remember if that's where the error codes popped up or not but I don't think the "H" or "L" are error codes...I think they have some significance to the jackpot ??? Having fun checking things out and no, the wife didn't kill me...she was actually quite nice about it. Maybe it was because I bought her a tea cart at the same sale...something she's been wanting for a long time.

On my machine ,the button to the left of the spin knob ,if pressed and held for a few seconds changes from credits to direct payout and no credits, and only accepts 3tokens at a time. Not sure about the HandL my machine does't have that . Might mean hit or lose. Is yours a 1,2,or3 bet .Itried forcing an error then turning machine off and it does reset, never noticed that before, thats a good feature for a pachislo. My other machines don't do that. You might want to clean the hopper terminal and make sure it's tight .
