so i got back in town and proceeded to break out the new power supply and hook it up. always nervous when doing this since fried electronics are beyond my ability to fix for the most part. all 3 power supplies are fused for more protection but you never know and i'm pretty sure this hasn't been powered up since it came to the states. anyway, i pushed the slider switch to on and no magic smoke. then i tripped the coin insert micro switch and was relieved to see the ball release solenoid fire.
now that it has power i could figure out the rules.
-the large top pocket and the three under and to the sides of it score one token which is kept track of in the upper left score board.
-the lower left and right large-ish pockets score one token as well and also cause the opposite boxer in the ring to fall. so basically he "hit" his opponent.
-the pocket underneath each boxer scores no hits but lights the bonus mode light. when this happens, you can press the button and get four more balls. what i really like is that this feature is carried over into the next game if not used.
-as balls go into the 4 "V" pockets, the 3 lights in the top of the ring come on. when the 3rd light comes on, 1 token light comes on in the score board. any 1 ball in those pockets after that scores one.
-the pocket above the ring immediately scores 5, knocks both boxers down, and stops the game. if this happens and the bonus light was on then you just have to use the bonus in the next game.
-the green lower left and right pockets are ball returns.
the only issues with the machine was that the token dispenser would not pay out. fortunately it was just a fuse with too low of an amp rating . i replaced the 1 amp with a 2 amp and it now pays out. as it pays out the lights go out one at a time in the score board from 5 to 1. also, the lights underneath the ring do come on as hits are scored and go out as tokens are dispensed but they're very dim. could be that they're just very old. i'll prolly try to replace them at some point but not too concerned since they don't affect game play.
interestingly, game play is a little different than the instructions but that's not the first time i've seen that happen.
i'll get a video up when i can but right now i'm unhooking everything to tin and solder all the connections, place wire ties, do a little more cleaning, etc. i just hooked everything up initially to check functionality.

No prob, I'll have a vid of the interior tomorrow. I forgot to mention in the vid that once 4 balls have gone into the 4 lower "V" pockets that it only takes 1 ball thereafter to score.

yeah, the progression is interesting especially when comparing models from one manufacturer.
as is typical for me when i write about a new machine i have to come back to add more details as i discover them. this one is no different and it turns out the scoring is more interesting than i thought. when a ball goes into the two large boxer pockets, 1 token is earned in addition to however many lights are lit up in the boxing ring. so a ball in the boxer can pay anywhere from 1-4 tokens. once that happens the ring lights reset/go out and light up again as more balls go in the V pockets or the top pockets.
