    Default Replacement bulbs

    Hey, all!

Question for the gurus out there: anyone know of a replacement bulb that will screw into sockets of a 1970's Nishijin that are 12V? The 9v wall warts work ok, but the 10v bulbs are just too dim. The 12v wall warts make them blazingly brilliant until they burn out. It would be perfect to shine some 12v bulbs without having to replace the holders as well. anyone?

    Thanks in advance!

    !
I just picked up some 14V 200ma Screw-Base Lamp bulbs from RadioShack p/n 272-1134, 2 ea for $2. They should have 12V bulbs, but you may have to order them. Hope this helps. I intend to get some 12v volt bulbs also. When I get a source and p/n I will post em.

bulbs I have seen at the shack, 4.3, 6, 9, 14 and 14.4 volt. Always out of stock in 2/3 of parts and sockets. I am amazed they are still in business with the lack of stock and worthless employes

I found the 7.5V which I figured I would use for the payout and the 14V to use for the hopper lights. RadioShacks p/n 273-1143 is for a 12V 75ma bulb here: http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2103786

And YES I agree with you about stock and employees.

I got my Nishijin B "Cappa" running, but still need another light and socket and grommet for the hopper empty down by the low balls window. (I saw the sockets at RadioShack in the bins, as noted by Moparformances in one his posts.) It is missing, and I can see where the wires were clipped off of the terminal board. I am going to check out Ace Hardware for bulbs and will let you know what I find in the way of bulbs.

Ace has 12V .8 watt bulbs @ $2.20 each and a large selection of screw base bulbs from 1.5V to 6V in 1.5V increments. I am still looking for a good source online where shipping isn't a killer.

Problem solved. I ordered 100 12vdc screw-in bulbs and 30 12vdc wall-wart transformers. I got a significant discount purchasing in bulk, no way I am ever going to pay $2.00 per bulb. It will be a simple conversion process, and that should be more than enough for the next few years worth of restorations. Maybe I will put some kits up on ebay later to share the wealth.

This should make the machines shine nice and bright.

OK, looking at this thread, a banner ad pops up for SuperbrightLEDs.com. They have a screw in flashlight bulb replacement LED that works from 1-9 volt. Only drawback is it's $9.99. But there's an easy way to do a conversion if you don't want to mess with soldering and mounting resistors, etc. Run it at 6 volts or 9V & it's done. They also had 12 volt strobe light modules that can be added on for LED's. Get that old blast & flash going...Actually they have a ton of conversion stuff includiung sockets to switch them to the auto style.

Personally I find much bettter pricing on the bulbs if you find a local electronics supply house or some of the online places like DigiKey. Usually find them for about $1.50 or less and the guys there actually know what a resistor is...

Pretty sure that banner ad that pos up is "targeted" towards whatever "YOU" looked at recently on google...

My banner ads are always for HOME DEPOT power tools and oddly enough, pictures of my bride in a swim suit... ;-)

I like Carl's ads better---although I do have enough tools.

How about changing sockets over to bayonet base automotive bulbs which have all kinds of bulbs readily available for like 38 cents each? I believe that RadioShack has the sockets for about 6 for $2.

The ads are targeted by the contents of the threads. If we all talk about Poodles we will get ads for dog food and grooming services.
