Default Nishijin DX Pachinko - Trouble Loading Balls Into Shooter

I grew up playing with this machine, and remember that at some point, a small piece broke off the loader mechanism (you pull the handle down in the front of the machine and it moves the reserve ball into the main ramp to be "hit" by the shooter).

The machine works just fine... except for that one little piece that is missing. Any suggestions on where I can get a replacement or how we can fabricate one? I can't even remember completely what it looks like, so I can't fabricate one on my own.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated. I'd love to get it working again so my own kids can play with it.

Here are 2 pictures. The first has the handle pressed down (as if launching the ball), and I believe it is the clearish plastic piece in the middle that is slanted to the left. The second picture has the pieces in the normal non-use position.

Let me know if you need a different shot, I think I can get in a little closer if it is easier.

I don't know exactly what the piece is called. I originally thought it was a metal piece that broke off, but the only thing I can find that seems to be in the right area that moves is that clear plastic-type piece.

Here are a shot of a 1970 Nishjin A and a 1971 Nishijin A. Each uses a metal rod to move the clear plastic lever to reload after shooting. The first uses a stair-stepped rod attached to the shooting lever (same part that the spring attaches to) and the other uses a simple bent rod held down by the flipper assembly nut.

Oddly, I have seem both variations used on Nishijin B models as well, even both variations in the same year. Hope this helps.

Don't know if it helps, picture 1 is the actual machine.

Picture 2 is the front with all doors open. You can see where the "next" ball is resting, and where the "striker" (guessing on that term) is (coiled spring?). The piece missing is the thing that takes the ball from its resting position to the actual ramp.

Picture 3 is of the back with the handle held down (as if it had just hit a ball). The metal piece attached to the handle moves the plastic just fine, it is something that was on the plastic that is gone...

Picture 4 is the plastic piece "at rest" or not being used. It looks slightly melted to me. I really don't know what happened here. I could ask my Dad, but he may not remember what he tried to do to fix it. I think we last used it around 1987???

Let me know if other pictures/lighting would be helpful. THANKS for looking

It looks like the whole arm the lifts the next ball into the shooter is missing. Also that plastic piece that resets it looks like it has some issues and might need to be replaced (just be lucky you have a Nishijin if it were a different model getting parts would be a lot harder) Also the front of your machine looks great.

With those new pics the issue becomes obvious and mxfaiman nailed it right away. Those parts are common enough because they are on a Nishijin A and I have no doubt that there are dozens of users here that have those pieces available from junked out parts machines. I know someone will step up quickly with parts you need now that it has been established which ones you need.

Wow you guys are quick! Thanks for the feedback - I completely agree with what you see... I just don't quite know how to explain it very well. I can be patient. I would just love to be able to get it running again for less than I can buy one on Craigslist. Plus... I really am rather attached to it.

One other question. My Dad originally had a HUGE battery attached to it (maybe 3" x 4" x 3"). What should I use to power the lights?

The lights are 10v but many people use 9v or 6v; I like to use 6v lantern batteries personally. Also don't worry about negative and positive because there really is no wrong way. I'll let you know now that you might need to replace some bulbs because they burn out over time.

Also I completely understand about being impatient we all are with our first machines (and the rest of them).

Also the only reason why we are quick tonight is mainly because we have nothing else better to do at the moment (well at least I don't).

You guys really are awesome. LOL you'll think I'm aweful. I've had it in my garage waiting for someone to help me because I thought it was a part that needed to be welded (could swear that it was metal) for about 7 years. I finally thought to look online and found this forum... SO GLAD!

I'm not so worried about the lights as they should be easy to find at Radio Shack or some similar place, but it is good to know that they will likely be out.

Next I just need to figure out how to hang it - its HEAVY!

Lucky for me you guys are bored...

Mopar it is a model A arm she needs I don't think the model B one is compatible, and she needs only the arm that loads the ball. (the one on the outside that gets broken a lot)

I'm getting ready for work now. When I get home I'll look at my model A and see what I can learn. I have a model B parts machine...probably no good, but we will see.
