Default Talk to me about dongles...

In another thread, it was suggested that I buy a dongle for my Popeye machine. I've done as much reading as I can and I really don't understand what dongles *DO*. By purchasing a dongle, what will I be unlocking that I can't already do?

the best feature is wile your playing... when your playing pachine and the shooter tray is out of balls you will have to reach around and grab another handfull from the back side and place them in the shooter tray... with Daverob's dongle 25 (or more) balls are just a push buttone away...

One of our Members Daverob invented a special Dongle that emulates the Parlour experience, there are a few threads regarding this in the forums, but probably the best place place to start is by having a read through the Info here Pachinko Card Reader Emulator Unit by Pinball Dave

Which goes in depth into the Card Reader Emulator Dongle, commonly referred to as 'the daverob dongle' in these forums, and also about the option smart card reader add on

There are also Videos which show the dongle in action, and thanks to Mopar for the link, he's a bit quicker than i am at finding them today

I'm sure Daverob will see this thread and answer any questions you may have

It also allows you to make full use of the "credit buttons" that would normaly not work (with the basic dongle) Daverob has done a great job on this device. A little added perk to your machine!

If you wall mount or box in the back. You can't live without one. As you can't just reach around and grab some balls.
I normally charge up the credits to give me 500 balls. per machine when playing..

Gentlemen-- thanks for your replies! I get it now. For the moment at least, I don't think I need a dongle. I'm rearranging my game room to move a few vintage American pinballs out of the way to install a few Pachinkos into the wall, so I might need a dongle (or a ball lifter) then.

    ahhh a lifter...

A very serious word here at pachitalk. Almost platinum.

I am in the process of building one, (crazy amount of fabbin) just need a motor and spur gears (hard to find in the US) have the "auger" and keep-track finished, found the appropriate bearings and am basically just waiting to get these last three parts. Its alot of work to get peebs up 32in or more... I think the avg. price on a genuine is like 300.00, which is outta my price range as well as alot of others.

    Let them be lifted!

Hmmm maybe you didn't get the message so I'll take another "run" at ya !!!

I love to play Pachinko JUST as if I was in the parlor... ok wait... as close as I can get anyway

All of my pachis have lifters serving them, but what REALLY makes me feel like I am playing in the parlor is the Card Reader and Dongle.

Trust me you NEED them, so just order them now okay, and you'll never go back.

we will ahve to agree to disagree...

the card reader is a very cool addition... but i dont think anyone should be with out a dongle... its one of thouse things... when i first saw one i was the same way..."whats all the hype about" but after having one they all have them...

get the dongle... and seriously consider the cardreader
