Hey Mo,

I think I'm on the brink of being in your situation. The daughter and boyfriend are pretty close. We are pretty close to having "the talk".

When I got married 26 years ago we didnt put our parents through that!!! We had the great support of all our friends dealing with catering, reception and all that. I did the music, no DJ or expensive photographers. Through all these connections we paid for our own wedding. I was 22 and my wife 25.

Maybe a major detail to mention was that we were married by a judge at our location. We didnt do the the gigantic church wedding. We just werent going to argue about who's religion meant more and we wouldnt have any part of it.

The funny thing is that I did about 8 hours of recordings of songs we liked and the timing through the whole weddding, one thing I didnt anticipate was the song that would come up on queue when we started down the aisle. We ended getting married during the song "White Wedding" by Billy Idol. It was definitely not a traditional wedding but there isnt a moment of the whole wedding I wouldnt have done different.

Not only that but we drove away in a 71 Beetle with cans dragging off the back to the airport to fly to Vegas and spend our anniverseray at Circus Circus. Maybe you could call it a white trash wedding but I had a mohawk and my wifes hair was shaved on one side. This was in 1985 and I was in art school and my wife was a baker in a restaurant..I wouldnt have changed a thing!!!
