It was definitely a major project since the wall behind this area is a pocket door and there are no studs on the right-hand side. I mounted the machines on a 3/4" piece of plywood to make things more secure. The rope lite is a nice touch and the 18 foot length worked perfectly. I'll find something cool to mount above it. Maybe a neon light?

These things are really hard to photograph because of the ever changing light shows and colors. While not as fun as my first love (pinball), they are really cool looking and make great electronic art. It is a rush when you make jackpots and see the light shows and animatronics. I also have a Jaws pachinko that I will be mounting. Jaws is really cool. I will probably sell the Planet of the Apes and put the Jaws up in its place. All three are great pachinkos. The Jurassic Park is mega cool too - probably my favorite.

(Hopefully the pictures will show up; I've never posted attachments here before)

Just keep going around the room with your pachinko machines. Cover all of the walls. That is what I did and now the room is mine!

Looks good. Did you make the cabinets as well? How did you attach the cabs to the plywood?

Neons really light up the room nicely. I've never quite understood why Japanese parlors are so brightly lit (well it's probably so patrons can be see when cheating). I wonder if parlors sometimes turn out all the lights like some bowling alleys do.

    The cabinets came from:

Slot Machines-Pachinko Machine Sales, Parts and Service

I painted them black (obviously). They can be used stand alone or hung on the wall. They hang just like kitchen cabinets. There is a strip of wood that you mount securely on the wall (screwed to the plywood in this case). The strip is made to interlock with the rear of the cabinet. Lift the cabinet into place and lower it onto the mounting strip. You can easily pull it down and switch game around.

I've been looking at a bunch of neons. Unfortunately money is a little low right now. I just bought a Lord of the Rings pinball, not to mention a both of my cars just blew their transmissions within days of each other. Haha, I was driving my mother's car to work the other day!

Thanks for all of the compliments! I have been playing the pachinkos a lot more since they are hung up. I have gotten a lot of compliments from guests too. Most people have seen pinball machines, but no one I know has seen a modern pachinko like these! Now I just need to put a sound switch on my Jaws so I can bypass that terrible alarm noise when I first turn it on.

Just thought I would update the pictures. I have sold off some pachinkos and picked up a Spiderman. I am left with just the two on my living room wall and some pinball machines.

    Enjoy.

Oh no! Did you sell them to make room for the pinball machines? Which look great, but who is the mirror allowing you to keep an eye out for?

Actually I had only planned to have two pachinkos, but went a little crazy! After I bought the first two, I really wanted the Jurassic Park. Then a friend offered me the Spiderman 3 for a price I couldn't refuse. Anyway, I have been selling stuff off to try to get an AC/DC pinball when they come out next year. The extra pachinkos were taking up space in the back bedroom. I'm also selling the Lord of the Rings pinball to a friend to make money and space for the AC/DC...

Everyone who comes in the living room immediately goes to the pachinkos. There are definitely an eye catcher the way they are mounted on the wall. The Spiderman and Jurassic Park are a lot of fun and really cool looking. Of all that I have owned, I think the Planet of the Apes was probably the most fun. It went to a good home (appropriately) with monkeyboy from this board.

As for the mirror...you never know who is going to sneak up on you while you are playing pinball! :-)

(sigh) I had always wanted to play pinball at my local arcade back when I wasn't tall enough to see over the feild...

By the time I was taller that arcade in the mall had shut down... (sigh) they were so cool, its a shame...

When I was a kid I remember begging my mom for enough change to play a game of pinball. Of course the game was over in just a few seconds! My mother saw it as a waste of money and never let me play again. Now that I am more than old enough, I have toys like pinball, pachinko and Megatouch in my living room. If I had more money, my whole house would be full.

I see you live in Florida. There are three pinball and arcade shows in Florida each year now. The next show is Florida APE in February in Ft Lauderdale. I usually bring a couple of pinball machines for people to play. I might bring a pachinko this year too.
