Here is the post for my first single shot. This machine overall looks to be in pretty good condition. Though while I was inventorying it I accidentally broke two minor parts. The first is the holder for the spring on the ball dump lever "see picture"; (luckily with the parts that I broke I have the other halves so I could possibly put them back to get her). The second thin I broke was the head to the screw post on the circuit board "see picture".

Anyways I said this was a decent looking machine well that is proven by how nice the cell on it is; it is nicer that some of the other machine I have already inventoried. Another thing that is in nice shape is the see-saw viewing window, the trim on that is in amazing condition (and I didn’t even do anything to it not even wipe dust off).

Also I noticed on this machine that the date tag is in the upper right corner. And I couldn’t find any numbers on the tag at all, though it was kinda odd how it had the number 5506 punch in it "see picture".

Also, I noticed that the ashtray had a piece broken on off the corner, I may need another one but I have to go through the other machines to see if I have a spare one.

Date tags seem non-existent on Single Shots. Possibly mid to late 60's because it has the Model A mechanism and hasnt been converted with the front ball tray which I'm thinking happened around '69. Some others might have better insight on this subject.

My late 50's and early 60's machines have metal mechanisms in back so you're probably in the mid to late 60's range. Of course they may have carried these machines into the 70's depending on certain parlors but maybe others could comment on that.

I'm going to throw a number out there and say 1968. Anybody else wanna play?

I just picked up the identical singleshot last night, just a different cell and one of the tulip lips is green. The single tulip design leads me towards an earlier date, I would guess 1965. Probably no older because it has a swinging frame door and lighting electronics, and the powered lighting began (I believe) in 1965. You see multiple tulip designs appear around 1967. It took them five years to figure out you could have more than one...LOL!

    Just my guess.

Kinda funny Rival because this machine has 3 bulbs on it. One for the center, one for the lens in the upper left, and one for the lens in the lower left. They also made a very clever way of making sure the bulbs can't easily get (swiped) well at least for the center one though the lower left one is neatly laid out. Thanks for possible dates. But the date isn't as important to me, but what is, is achieving the goal of owning at least one single shot. I'll post some pictures of the lighting a little later.

Okay I promised more pictures of the single shot well here they are.

The first picture is of the way they placed the bulb for the lower right lens. The one thing I keep wondering is why didn't they continue this feature it looks cool plus more lights are cool.

The other picture is of the center feature bulb. I found it quite interesting that the bulb was basically double protected. Also why get rid of the grommet for this more model A’s would have survived. Though they were just building them cheap at the time so what ever is cheaper went on I guess.

Okay today I inventoried another 3 machines.

#48 is a Nishijin model B (5 tunnel) Like I said there are a few of them I guessing two or three more.

#49 is a Nishijin model B (Flowers / arrows / fork & knife) I have another machine posted previously with the same cell but it is better condition on that one.

#50 is a Nishijin model A (Giant windmill) I have seen these machines on here before but the center always has no color just white (so people call the center feature a snowflake). I guess there always white because they used cheesy fluorescent pink paint that would easily flake off. This one is starting to do that, luckily it is not too bad...yet (hopefully we don't reach yet).

Today I tore down what would be machine #60 or the last one.

Here are some pictures of it before I did anything to it.

On that single -shot, keep in mind that it was designed to be backlit by lights in the stand. Usually the center attraction allowed some minor backlighting that flashed bright during the jackpot payout. Also, the upper and lower "seashell" out-of-ball lights needed to be kept protected from the backlighting and only illuminated when the game ran low on balls. This should explain the grommet configuration.

Yes that is a storage container I have numerous ones of those and they work great. Plus I would NEVER throw away a perfectly good center feature or any other parts.

#51 is a Heiwa (ufo) I thought this was a pretty cool machine. It is built like a model C. I thought that it was cool how you can remove the whole back (actually when I found it, the whole back was off of it). Also you need the special key to open the lock "see image".

Sorry I'm a little late on posting this.

Anyways over the weekend I inventoried another 3 machines

    #53 is a Nishijin model A (5 tunnel)

#54 is a Nishijin model A (pendulum / blue flowers) Between machines 53 and 54 one of them will be a parts machine to complete the other. 54 will most likely be it.

    #55 is a Nishijin model B (chrysanthemum / fork & knife)

Today I finished inventorying our big purchase!!!

#56 is a Nishijin model A single shot conversion (windmill) while going through this machine I stated think that this may be a parts machine I can’t decide yet. I guess I’ll found out when I need it if I ever do.

#57 is a Nishijin model B (pick over / can’t tell) Unfortunately this will most likely be a parts machine. Due to the fact that it will probably cost me more to get all the parts than what the machine is worth. This really stinks because it is the only one I have "with" the side pockets.

#58 is a Sankyo (lizards) I know when you go and look at the pictures of this machine you say this will be a parts machine but that is where you are wrong. Because in the box of parts I received in this lot there were almost all of the parts to this machine so I have almost all of the parts to it.

#59 is a Nishijin model A front overflow (Diana / scat)

    #60 was in post # 47

I forgot to mention in the first post that this lot came with 2 original Pachinko machine boxes.

The first box is a Target Abroad box. They were based in El Segundo, California.

    The box measures 21"x 9.5"x 33.5"

The box fits a model B machine fine with some packing material around it. However, a model A fits tight in the box and leaves you no room for packaging. Below are some pictures of the box.

There is another box in there but there is no company name on it, all I can tell is that it was shipped to Buena Park, CA. This box was very heavily abused and torn open. But it is an original box.

Also the inventorying isn’t over I still need to inventory the 8 machines we bought before these. So if you keep checking they will eventually be on here.

I've only seen one Target Abroad box in person. The guy was selling 3 machines except 1 (A Chevy machine) and it still had the box in mint condition. I think he said he got it from Montgomery Ward new in like 1977 or so. He knew what he had and he wouldnt give it up. I did end up getting a Rolling Stone out of the 3 in that deal. Very cool collectible item you have!!

The other box is probably a little more rare in my opinion. I'm such a geek I would probably cut out that color photo and frame it or scan it to make a poster. But thats me. What brand is machine in the photo?

I think that the box is probably one of the rarest pachi's. The colored picture on the box is and okumarayuki machine. Also I like the idea of scanning the picture in and framing it or something it might look cool.

I think it would be a cool addition to a game room or right in the living room where the wife would enjoy it with you

I know you got to look through some of them and so did I, but this was my first real look at all of them. And looking back I can't believe I was able to get through them all in the course of around 3 weeks. I mean I was spending around 30 minutes looking at each machine. So you total that up and it took me about 30 hours to inventory all 60 machines.
