    Thumbs down Need replacement speaker

In my hunt for a replacement speaker, I am confused by something, so I apologize for my newbie question... I need a 8 ohm 5w speaker. I see many types of speakers, but they all say 8ohm .5w speakers or .05W speakers...but none that say "5w"...is this the same thing? 2 1/2 inches wide (Hard to tell because the speaker was crushed sideways). Suggestions on where to buy such a speaker would be helpful too.

    Thanks...

no, just like all math 5, .5, and .05 are all different power levels, just like .5amp and 5amp fuses. What is the speaker from? you may be able to use one from a different power rating (3w or 8w or 10w) without any trouble

You're right...makes sense...I guess I wasn't thinking. Any suggestions on where to go to get a speaker?

I took a look today at Goodwill...if the radio says 5W on for power, would that be a good way to determine the speaker will be as well?

Usually yes if the amplifyer puts out a certain watt the speaker will be equal to or just above that so it won't blow the speaker.you should be safe AT 5 TO 10 watts, Without hurting the amp on your pachinko machine.Speakers are usually4 to 15 watts above amp output for volume control difference.Thats just a general rule for speakers.Matching the diameter of the speaker is the hardest part, so you don't have to alter the mounting to much.. Ihope this helps you.

So I went with an 8ohm 3W speaker that will fit the mounting. It says "Nominal, 3W Max, 5W". I assume the sound won't be as loud, but I can't damage my pachi, I hope?

You probably won't hear any difference ,your machine is probably putting out 3 watts normal ,and most of us play our machines with the volume lower anyway. It might be a better quality speaker and add more bass, rather than treble.Sounds like a winner.

I received the speaker and you were absolutely right. It sounds much better then the damaged speaker. It didn't fit PERFECTLY, but it fit. Thanks for the advice.
