Default Newbie/Novice Question About Sanyo 2nd Jackpot

Greetings folks! Glad I found y'all.

I purchased my first vintage Sanyo Pachinko from an antique store yesterday. The guy had no idea if it worked or ever worked but I took a chance. I have never had or used one before so I was somewhat in the dark.

Well, I did what I could to read up on it online and actually managed to get the darn thing working late last night (I think).

I am having one problem though ,and thought maybe someone could help. When I reset everything and started fresh I was able to play it normally and on the first jackpot it worked flawlessly... bells rang and extra balls were deposited. Problem is, subsequent jackpots did nothing... is there an easy fix or something to look for? Look forward to hearing back. Thanks!

Welcome to PachiTalk! We are very happy that you joined our forum and we will be happy to help you get your machine working again!

Please post a few close-up pictures of the back of the machine so that we can make sure all of the required parts are present and accounted for. From your description above it sounds like the Jackpot seesaw is not resetting properly, or the machine is low on balls. With that model of machine you need at least 400-500 balls to get it to work correctly.

Anyhow, post some pics of the back and we will get you pointed in the right direction.

    Welcome aboard!!

A word of warning. Stay away from craiglist. Or these will multiply

First things first. make sure you have plenty of balls. Ideally 500 or more. Could you please post a picture of the rear of the machine and a clear picture of the stickers on the front. We love pics Looks like a phoenix on the front.

It sounds like the seasaw isn't resetting. If you can get some good pics of this area. it would be helpful

it looks like you need more balls to make it work properly, judging from your second photo.

Based on your photos, it looks like all important pieces are present and accounted for. Two things to point out:

The jackpot seesaw is in the correct position in this photo. when your first jackpot is paid, check to see that it was reset into the same position.

    Pachi2.jpg

Next, these photos were taken without balls loaded into the machine. When the machine runs low on balls, the jackpot payout process is stopped. The pic below shows the stops in place (circled). When balls are loaded, the weight of the balls push down the two plastic strips in the ball track and swing the stops out of the way.

    Pachi1.jpg

My guess is that one of these two points is where your issue is.

Post back if you are still having problems.

250 balls is not enough for a model B machine. I would recommend another 250 minimum, but I personally prefer about 1,000 balls in that model of machine. ebay is the best place to find Pachinko balls. If you can get them for under 6 cents each after shipping, then you got a good deal.

The paper sticker in your second photo is stuck over the sticker that would give us a clue of the date. Based on my experience with these machines, I would say your machine was built somewhere around 1975-1977. Perhaps another member with the same or similar machine can provide better information.

Any idea of what something like this is worth (assuming it all works once I get some more balls to test it with)? Also, I noticed a light kit on eBay -- anyone have experience with that? Worth it?

I haven't worked on a sanyo yet. But based on my other machine it looks like you have a part missing.

Based on this picture it looks like there is a chute missing that should connect all of the square holes. I don't know for sure but it looks to be that way.

    100 machines and counting...

as for the light kit on da-bay... might be a great place for your to start.. looks like all the lights wires and switches are gone from your machine.. so it would be a great starting place...

Check out this thread for a discussion on machine value. It should be helpful:

And here is a link about payouts on a comet II...
    http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/vint...p-see-saw.html

The missing chute definitely is the path for a ball dump, should just come out that upper opening though. I am not sure but think a forced jack pot would also dump out that way. If pachinko balls are not flying out during normal play, no worries. If you really want a replacement, just ask on this web site, maybe in the member trade area, and I'm guessing another member has that part for sale at a reasonable price. There are at least three other dust covers missing in the pictures, not required for normal play, maybe you took them off...

It is easy to hook up a 9V battery to this machine to see if the ebay kit is needed or not... and it looks like the lower reward ball feed ramp is missing it's cover?

As to value, I appraised mine at one google dollars... or a one followed by one hunderd zeros... now my bride wants me to sell it for that amount...

I do like the colors on your machine and can't really tell if there are a lot of water stains.

    Hi Folks,

First, thanks for all the great info so far. I recently received another 350 balls in the mail and tried playing using about 500 balls. I'm still having the same problem. When I reset everything I can get a single payout (pays out to the front of the machine as expected). But once I get the first payout I don't get subsequent ones. The seesaw is resetting back correctly (I believe) -- the right side is higher than the left. Any ideas where to go from here?

I could make several guesses, but it would be better if you could post several close-up photos of the back after the first payout has completed. Something is not resetting correctly and the photos would help up pinpoint what is going on. Post photos of all areas of the back.

    Thanks!!

I had issues with my Sanyo and my vintage Sankyo payouts, both were fixed by cleaning the pivot pins on the arms of the payout system. it was not hard but did require taking most of the back apart.

Does the pachinko ball that went in the win pocket (the jackpot ball) come out the back of the machine by the "paper clip"? There is a wire that should go up to reset the jackpot lever. On my first machine, the wire was not in the correct orientation. I can post a picture, if this is confusing, as it would be worth a million words at this point...
