Also, why he written Philipphines doll? Maybe it was bought there. But dress of those doll is called Hanbok, (한복) and is national dress of Korea. Many people with similar native culture from Northeast Asia and Siberia uses similar dress like Mongols, Manchu, Xibe, etc etc and is totally different comparing of Southeast Asia nations

Oh Man!!!As soon as I started reading this thread I thought, wait a minute I have about 20 of these creepy things!!

My wife and I inherited a home from a Great Aunt who was a MAJOR collector. We have one room of the home that is filled with Music Boxes, probably about 1000 of them. We've already given about 500 of them away to Thrift Stores, Family members, etc.

The thing is we have a collection of about 20 of these strange dolls called Bradley Dolls or Big Eyed Dolls that we're not sure what to do with. They were made from the 50's to the 70's in Japan and Korea. I've dated her collection from probably the late 60's to the early 70's. They're all on top of a music box that rotates them around as the tune plays. They really are'nt worth much from what I've researched.

But the distinguishing feature of these dolls are those damn CREEPY HANDS!!

Heres an excerpt from an article I read on these BRADLEY dolls:

"Made in Korea and Japan during the 1960s and 1970s for the American market, Bradley's line of dolls are unique on several levels. Unlike most dolls, their bodies are constructed of wire skeletons surrounded by styrofoam and/or cloth, mounted on a wood or plastic base so they can be nicely displayed. (They are often found with their fingers twisted into strange--and very painful looking--positions, due to the fact that each digit is wired to be articulated, although the hands are occasionally plastic or just cloth.)"

This particular collection of lovely ladies look to be dressed in 19th century garb much of which reminds me of "Gone with the Wind" or something.

In fact if someone can help me rid myself of this Creepy Collection I would be forever grateful!!

I did not know at all of this hands, but i was born in the 80s so maybe it was only earlier has this? But when i was child, i was getting doll dressed in national dress (I am boy, so not for playing These dolls with national dress has been very popular for gift, like marriage, birthday and Korean traditional days and things like that). I still have it, and checked, but mine has no creepy hands, but as you wroting, mine was indeed made of styrofoam, plastic hands and textile
