Unhappy Help with Error Code on Giant Pulsar

Everytime I get into the bonus round area I get E-1 error or E-8 error. Anyone know why this keeps happening? It forces me to reset the master and start over from the beginning of the game.

Does the error code show right as the bonus hits, or after a few payouts?

    Welcome to PachiTalk ! ! !
An E1 Error = "The Hopper is Jammed"

An E8 Error = "Hopper Disconnected"

Remove the Hopper (disconnect the Plug First if it has one). Some Hoppers have the plug built in at the back which connect when you slide in the Hopper. I have a 2007 Yamasa Play Boy which has the plug built into the back of the Hopper. Your Giant Pulsar is a 2006 Pachislo.

Empty out the Tokens and make sure that the Disk which collects the Tokens spins freely in both directions. Put Tokens in each hole on that disk and spin it by hand clockwise. Listen for a "Click" as the tokens come out. They should "spit" out if you hear the "click".

If there is no "click" and "spit" then the top part of the hopper needs to come off and check the sensor assembly that counts the Tokens as they are paid out. There is a roller cam that is attached to a spring that some times gets gummed up and will inop the sensor.

Let us know what you find and we can continue troubleshooting with you.

It acts like the payout sensor either has aloose connection, or needs a good cleaning .Alchohol is a good cleaner for those parts. just make sure the machine is off when you check it , it is easy to fry circuits by just grounding a wire by accident.

I would not suggest alcohol as it can fog up plastic and so can fog up the LED or more importantly the detector part of optical interrupter switch (OIS) , which is the black U shaped thing that usually is soldered to a circuit board with 4 or 5 connections, in case you didn't know. I tend to call them opto-couplers which is technically a different electronic part, but easier to say than "optical interrupter switch".

I would suggest window cleaner on a q-tip run gently through the OIS a couple of times, then run a dry q-tip through it. This does not dry as fast as alcohol so I would give it an hour to make sure it is completely dry. This comes from my years of working coin-op machines, especially pinball machines.

So there is a little electronic lesson for today.

    Good luck.

Take the hopper out. clean the connections so electrical contact will be made.
Examine the hopper to make sure the tokens can move freely in it. look for dust
or gummy stuff that would slow it down and cause an error.
I suspect that your trouble is caused by your tokens somehow. Take them all out and lay
them on a flat surface. eyeball each of them to make sure they are flat not bent.
also do you have enough tokens in your hopper? you can get those errors if you run low.
Pachis are not very exacting when it comes to showing an error message.
Silicone spray or 3-in-1 oil are great lubricants to use on the hopper! Just dont get any on the
sensor. Do what Carwarr said about cleaning it: the opto electronic token passage digitizing and
    enumerating sensor!
Thats technical talk for the thingy.

I removed the hopper and emptied all the coins. The disk turned in both directions, I could feel some tension when I turned the disk but it did turn both ways. I have 400 coins in the hopper and I take out about 100 to play with at a time. When I run out of coins I dip into the hopper for more. I may have been pulling out the hopper and disconnecting it when I was taking coins, I'm not sure. I played for about an hour tonight after checking the disk and I didnt get into the bonus round. Will have to play some more tomorrow and see how it does.
The advice on here has been great, thanks alot, I will post back.

You might want to invest in more tokens, it makes the playing more fun,as you don't have to keep opening the machine all the time for more tokens. About a 1000 are perfect.

Glad I could add my input. I know I am new on this forum, but have worked electronic repair all my life so I hope I can add a little of my knowledge to this great base of experienced Pachislo people already here.
