Default New member needs help to identify this machine "The Sands"

IMG_1164.jpgHi, I just got this machine. Was told it plays tokens and quarters. I have 250 tokens. It also has a one arm pull on it. No manual includedIMG_1160.jpg. Can someone identify it, provide any manuals for it, is it a Pachislo? Any info would be appreciated. Came with the stand. Works good.

    Thanks,3nf3o53l15Q35P55S6b3la8a485a835951edd.jpg

There were still Pachislos with arms a few decades ago..Pachislos actually started with arms in the '60's..

I would say since it looks to have JAC (replay) symbols on the reels and looks to be made by Sammy that its a pachi..But I'm no pachislo expert so who knows..

Birdbrain used to have a few like that I think..

MrGneiss - Yes it does have JAC on the reels. I wasnt sure what they meant.. And the stop buttons do stop the reels. Maybe thats why when two cherries hit I get no Payout. Maybe I'm supposed to hold the two buttons and spin to try for third cherry? Does that sound possible? Also, anyone know approximate value of this machine?

I looked on www.pachislodb.com and couldnt find a match under the Sammy machine database. Very unusual. Nice find!!

The oldest machine they had listed in the database under Sammy was a 1982 "Empire" and is probably the closest one to looking like a Vegas style machine but still nothing like your machine.

East Coast Mike - Thats the one I bought. Was advertised as Original "Rare" slot machine from the 1960's Las Vegas Casino "The Sands". I don't know how to tell if thats true or if I got taken.. Previous Owner said it was appraised for $4,500 in 2005 but yet he had no paperwork or manuals on it... So I just don't know!!!

I don't know anything about this machine but I doubt it was used in the USA and that $4500 appraisal set off my B.S. alarm. It is a cool looking machine and I hope someone knows more about it as I want to know about it too

    Hello and welcome!

First i must say: This is totally NOT really my area. I not know of this types of machines very much at all (Im Pachinko junkie ). And by that, i reserve myself for some eventual wrong info:
But i have tried to find something that might interest you! And if i will find more information of Your particular model, i will tell you.

    Small intro for understanding:

1964, the first prototype said to have been build in Okinawa, then govered of US army, to honour the Olympic games in Japan that year. The machine was called "Olympia machine" and the next years, many slot machines was build in Japan by the company SEGA (With co op of Taito) and released mainly in Europe (This i know because i have seen vintage slot of European collectors with "SEGA" brand on them.

And regarding the machine of yours:

Actually from what i can find, this IS a Pachislo, not an Las vegas slot or anything as that. This particular type with arm was first released in june 1977 by the company Olympia. I have not yet found your particular model, but the particular machine called "GEMINI" was released in 1977 as i said, by Olympia. And i would personal guess your machine to somewhere between 1977-1989 based on pictures i have found here:

That is showing some "evolution" of these machines released in Japan. NOTE: I am not sure "Olympia machine" was released in Japan, or if there was only for European market, just produced by Japanese companies. But the 1977 "GEMINI" i am sure, was released for Japanese market:

Also, cool flyers that i found (Some of them has this arm-type)

That is not a vegas slot , most early vegas slots were bally's or igt.The gaming commission would never allow a chance stop reel on a machine. It looks like a possible cruise ship machine to me, they used alot of machines that resembled this machine in the early 90's, especially useing tokens or quarters.

After looking at compirates link to these machines ,I think they are early okinawa machines. They have alot that are printed in english because of the G.I.'s stationed there, and to look more like american casino's.

As i guess, i also found out that actually Gemini was the firstly Pachislo approved with Japanese law, according to some flyers i have found: (See pics below)

    searayrules>>>

Unfortunately i did not yet found info of machine that you owns. But in Japan, machines are categorised for different "Units" depending on when they was maked, and different units have different feautres. And for example, "Gemini" machine of 1977 was called "Unit 0" and has no bonus feautre from what i could understand.

Your machine by judging photos that you taken, it implies it has somewhat kind of "Bonus mode", right?

Bonus feature was introduced in "Unit 1" machines i think. And this was the year 1985. And logical your machine i would assume would at least not be older than of 1985 .

Here i link to you a video of a "Unit 1,5" (slightly after "Unit 1") thats called "Tropicana 7", it also uses this arm, just to let you compare with yours:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8Sba...eature=related

(Around 2:00 min he get bonus)
