    Default Speed Racer

I was considering buying a Speed Racer. I was wondering if I could get some feedback from those of you who own/played one. Is it worth the price they are going for? Thanks in advance for any insight! :-)

Hang loose, Lddrizzt just picked one up today and I believe he's go, go, going as we type.

The great thing about these machines is that you can relieve your childhood. Not that I have ever left mine.

I'll be honest. I was bored with it for the first 20 minutes. I think mainly because I don't know a lot about pachislos yet and my reel stopping skills leave a little bit to be desired. It also did very little, video-wise, music-wise or light-wise during those first few minutes.

HOWEVER, as soon as I hit some type of bonus round everything (video, music, sounds and lights) got going and got much more exciting.

If you want to see two very poor quality SIDEWAYS mpegs of it sitting in bonus mode, here you go:

You can see it all lit up in the photo below. That's about all I can tell and show you until I've played it more.

Speed Racer is a fairly good type B machine. You will have to spend about a half hour spinning the reels before much happens. There are several LCD screen games that begin to become available. Back lit reels will occur and that signals you are close to regular or big bonus.
The lights and music are entertaining and the machine sounds more "americanized" than many. Theme is a bit juvinile but it is a fun machine.

Well I haven't been able to play it as much as I want at the moment, I have been swamped with work, got a regular bonus was pretty cool. As soon as I hit the big bonus I will put up a review in the museum section.

Thanks...This machine is high on my want list. I enjoyed watching the cartoon as a kid. I'm mostly interested about the LCD and how it relates to the game play? Any info, whenever you get time will be appreciated.

    Go here:

    http://www.pachislo.com/pachislo/det...achgogogo.html

I have seen all of these except the kiss one so far. and I haven't beaten the black crew yet. The reg bonus chance has you driving on a track in a stadium with the stands full of people, and you have to hit the black bars when it tells you to, that's when I heard the theme song during the reg bonus. Still waiting on the big bonus and a gt round.
Just go get the machine, you won't be dissapointed, only complaint I have is the slight video noise coming from the speakers, but that seems to get softer as the machine warms up.

Its neat, but alot of japanese voices on it turned me off. I woudl rather just see the cartoons and not have the japanese speech. I actually like looking at it more than I like playing it!

Thanks for the input guys. I need to lay low for a bit since I just bought two machines last week. I'll keep my eyes open and see if I can snipe a low ball bid on Ebay. Hopefully one will slip through the cracks.

    Smile Newbie

Hello Everybody, This is my first post to this forum. Just got into these cool machines last weekend. Purchased a Neo PlanetT, Speed Racer and a Mephisto. I left the Mephisto with my parents to play so I didnt see much of that game yet. The Neo PlanetT seems very cool and pretty easy to empty the hopper of 500 tokens. Speed Racer is Getting better now that I set the odds a little more in my favor. Came set at 3, set to 5 now. I guess I have to learn how to Install the Volume L Pot deal since the high squeel keeps me from leaving it on. Just purchased a Super Max which looks like a Hanabi Hyakei to me and am about to get an Aladdin soon. I guess I have the bug now. Any must have machines I should get ? Beast Sapp & Metal Slug are already in mind. Any advice for a Newbie ? Mike : )
