    Default Ponder the world of Japanese Pachinko commerce

    Here are three saved links I use to ogle Yahoo Japan:
    Pachinko in katakana: here
    Pachinko in hiragana: here
    Pachinko in both katakana and hiragana: here

    Read all three as each gives different results in Yahoo Japan.

    You may note that Yahoo Japan is not readily translated through babblefish etc.

    I do not know Japanese;
    pachi_sloter did all the translating for me.
    Credit, thanks, and Hazaa's go to him for translating :smt060

    You can get the current exchange rate for most currencies here:

    http://www.bloomberg.com/markets/currencies/fxc.html

    Note that this is the rate you get moving large amounts of money via bank transfers.

    Exchange rates are much worse if you are actually moving paper currency. For small transactions some of the best rates can be had by avoiding paper currency and just using a charge card. Your charge card company will automatically do the conversion when they bill you. The rate will be slightly worse than those listed on Bloomberg, but no where near as bad as someplace like a currency exchange at an airport.

    Yeah but watch out. I just did a conversion for a Mexico resort we will be staying in soon and my Bank Of America Flightfund charge card just hit me with a 6 percent fee to do the exchange and they claim that is low compared to others. I only use one card to get airmiles but that seems a bit high. So be careful and do your homework first.

    When I travel outside the country my experience had been:
    1. Cash get's you the worst exchange rate.
    2. Traveler's checks get a better exchange rate.
    3. Charging it on my credit card got me the best exchange rate.

    Yeah I have experienced the same previously a few years back also but this really hit me as they just slipped in this 6 percent charge a month ago right before I did the charge for this Playa Del Carmen resort. I called Bank Of America and they claim they are now the lowest on it but I find that hard to believe. Anyway it's done but I gotta find a better way for rest of the trip. Looks like travelers checks it is.
