Smile Missing key for Sankyo Star Wars R2D2 - Help!

Hello, new user first poster - I'm in LA, CA and some years ago had purchased a Sankyo Star Wars Pachinko that I just unpacked from storage after a recent move.

On a recent play the balls have accumulated behind the front backglass and I need to unlock the front panel.

It is only now, years later after my purchase, that I realize I never got a key for the front door panel. I still have all the documentation but no key, and the seller is long gone.

Might anyone PLEASE help with suggestions on how to obtain a new key? Thank you!

    Dan in LA

You can usually open the front panel from inside. look at the door lock slides on the left side of the machine. the mechanism where the key goes is a cog that shows the action of the key . Turning the key left opens the front panel. follow the notch that the cog hits, and manuallyslide the track,up or down. One of those tracks will release the front panel. I hope this helps you.

Thanks for the prompt response. I tried and that does work in releasing the game's face from the frame (the machine is not in a cabinet) but I'm still unable to open the front glass framework. The manual says to access this area the key must be turned to the leftmost position and so far I can see no way of manually accessing that area without the key.

I have a ball stoppage behind the front glass - balls have collected behind the glass at the bottommost ball drain.

Thank you so much for the quick response and for going to that trouble of taking the photos, I of course found the latch right away and it opened right up.

I'd been staring forever and was so consumed by the other latches I didn't see the obvious. As usual, salvation was under my nose. Much appreciated. Thanks again so much!!

Out of interest. Why were the balls getting stuck behind the glass

just a guess but a machine that was packed with balls loaded in it and then rolled over would get balls in places where there not intended..

as a rule... before i ever move a pachi i make sure the machine is totaly empty or make sure i keep it upright at all times..

Balls had been added to the empty machine but during play they began to collect at the base of the backglass and were not draining properly to the upper tray.

After further inspection I discovered the balls were collecting because the machine was ever so slightly off balance, leaning a little too far right. I'm on the second floor of an old house and the extreme ends of the house are settling so it's hard to detect by naked eye, but I do believe the floor and the table are actually leaning slightly to the right!

Propping the machine up a bit with a counterbalance did the trick. I'm surprised the machine was so sensitive to this - it must be a very slight amount of degrees, but it was enough to cause a problem. So far it now seems to be working just fine.

It's a beautiful machine. I appreciate the design more than the gameplay however. I'm trying to learn to be subtle with the throttle and every so often I get a string of semi-consistent plunges timed intermittently enough to get pretty close to the center start hole, but ultimately it's a game of 'just sit back and stare and pray for pretty pictures.'

Anyone have any particular comments about the gameplay on this machine? Thanks again to all for the help and interest.

    D
