Default Model A Conversion Pachinko (Raleigh, NC)

I found this on craigslist yesterday morning and thought I could share it with everyone.

    Pachinka Machine Conversion

I stumbled on it because of searching pinball rather than pachinko. It looks to be a nishijin A single ball conversion "diana" type rather than the very common "sophia".

I contacted the seller for some more pics and got some high res of the front and the back. Upon further inspection there appears to be significant water damage on the cell. I'd like to know if there are any pieces that appear to be missing from the back, how much damage from water there appears to be, and would it be worth pursuing for the price?

I am not familiar at all with a Model A nishijin, but if the machine is rare enough to make it worth it, I could pick it up. I like the theme with the crabs on the cell, but the water stains are a detterent.

From the pic you provided it appears that everything is there. Overall, that model A looks to be in fantastic condition, except for the cell.

    Great find!!

Well, it has been relisted under pachinko instead of pachinka: Pachinko machine

I'm still thinking about it, but the idea of a cell replacement is daunting. I'm about a week or so out of finishing my single shot and school will be starting back shortly.

I have been thinking about it for a while, but i have another project that is in line when the marhoun is finished already. I keep telling myself I could get it now and save it for later and it may never be for sale again.

I told the seller it may be a few days before I make a decision. I will wait a little longer and if I wake up and think about it again, I may just get it and be happy and put it in line with everything else.

Thanks for the input, I will sure keep you all posted

looks like a really nice machine...

the center feature seems to have a large tulip action...

the one thing i do see is that the back top ball hopper is broken... looks like an easy fix.. but it is broken... if ya ahve the time go look at it and make him an offer in person.. 50 seems like a good price but it never hurts to ask...

    Hello All,

I bought the machine in the Raleigh, NC craigslist ad. I found this site, after I got it home and started surfing the web to do some research. I'm not a collector, but I've wanted one for awhile now and the price was right, so I jumped on it. Actually, I'm kinda excited about the learning the restoration process. I'm glad to see there is already an established community of pachinko collectors out there, so I'm hoping to get good advice when it becomes necessary.

    Thanks,
    Bronte

I wondered what happened when the listing was down the day after telling the seller I would think about it. I'm glad someone got it to restore and not to strip to pieces and hang it on the wall!

As mentioned by Mopar, pictures are great! The ones that I had and looked at on CL were grainy and not very clear. I was emailed additional pics from the seller and there looked to be extensive water damage on the cell. The back of the machine looked intact and to not be missing pieces.

Good luck getting it fixed up, and when you get stuck, feel free to ask questions in the vintage pachinko forum. Also it will benefit you to check out this video at the link below:

    God luck!!

And please pardon my manners... WELCOME TO PACHITALK

Welcome, Bronte! We are always thrilled to have both a new member and new enthusiast! You certainly have come to the right place to get the help you need. Personally, I think restoring the machine and learning how it works is more fun than actually playing with it. Be careful, though. These vintage machines have a habit of multiplying really quickly!
