Default If I could only pass on a good deal

So I'm gone for a week and a half, and no new pachis on Craigslist, which I've vowed not to look at until I finish my current projects.... So, today I'm catching up on my Pachitalk happenings, and just for curiosity's sake, I go hit Craigslist just to see what's there (for the 3rd time today). New post, pachi $10... could it be true? Surely he left a zero off of the end (folks keep trying to sell ones that are in rough shape around here for $100+). Sure 'nuff, $10 and it was close by. So now I've got a Heiwa, I'm trying to figure out if it's a girl kisses the frog and get's a prince kind of theme, because there is a frog as the top attraction, and a boy and girl kissing as the main attraction. The good: it was $10, it worked after about 5 mins of tinkering, all the parts are there, it came with a good piece of plexi, the cell while water stained is bright, and the water stains aren't that bad, the laminate isn't chipped at all. The bad: corrosion on the frame is pretty bad, a little bit of bubbling under the chrome, and some definite pitting, the reset mech for the seesaw was actually corroded in place and took a little bit of persuasion to get moving (the see saw looks pristine however), it was dirty (aren't they all), had no balls (but did include an unidentified critter living in the shooter mech, that wasn't all that thrilled when I got him out with my shop vac). I was originally thinking it would be a parts machine, but it looks like this one will also be in line as another project. If anyone is counting (like my wife, probably the most understanding woman in the world) that makes 7... since July, and they're all in my living room... and I thought I could stop at just one...

Nice find, saw that the other day on Craigslist. Couldn't believe it either that he only wanted 10 for it. would have gone for it if it wasn't for the weather.

Update to my $10 deal. It's working great, but was missing a sticker on one of the tulips and needed some paint. So I decided to make a sticker, and paint some of the areas where it was missing. There are probably better ways, to make these stickers, but this is my fairly low-tech/ low-budget approach. Started out removing a tulip and putting on my color all-in-one scanner/printer/copier. So I copied it. (for some reason when I scan it comes out smaller and then I have to make it larger... Then, I put a piece of clear packaging tape on it, and cut it out, then ran it through my wife's scrapbooking sticker making machine. If you know it's a reproduction, you can stare at it long enough to tell, but otherwise it works out pretty good... Also, the paint work turned out better than I'm used too (still need to do some work on the silver)... Cleaning is coming along, but I still need to shine up the nails, and potentially do some retrobrighting... (This started out as a parts machine...)

Looks good! Although is a Scrapbook Sticker Making Machine "low budget"? Sounds pretty fancy to me!

I used to have the "Kissing Dutch Kids" Vintage Pachinko back in 02 with a solid pine cabinet but had to sell it in the hard times Sept 04-Aug 05 period . Very nice work and you got a very good eye for detail

Her scrapbooking hobby is worse than my pachi hobby. She "promises" me that it wasn't expensive... I find it's best if I don't ask any questions...

Your wife was telling the truth this time..the Xyron 150 Create-a-sticker is only about $8!!

I had one of the 5" ones years ago that could do 1 and 2 sided lamination or stickers or laminated stickers or magnets and that was under $30..Fun things!!
