Default Sankyo Bisty Lumina Evangalion Bad LCD \ Board

This is the third and the last of my Evangelion's to be fixed. As the pictures show the image resolution is the only issue I'm having. A reset doesn't seem to help much; the intro video freezes and then goes to the normal screen. everything else on this machine works (payout, sound, launcher, power and lights). The only issue is the screen resolution. I know its not the LCD TFT because I've replace many a LCD in my career and am quite familiar with how a defective LCD looks.

Situation: It has to be the mainboard / submainboard (or the like) that is defective. Seen how I'm going to take a critical component off a fully working unit I will need a replacement or sell this unit for parts.

Question: Are my assumptions correct with what is defective? If so, how can i get these replacement parts? If i can't get replacement parts what is the going rate for selling a Sankyo Bisty Lumina for parts?

My assumption was correct. After swapping parts out of a similar machine I found that issue to be the sub control board.

Question: Where can i get a replacement and how much will it cost?

That board looks like one that is on the back of the cell . You would have to find a cell that you don't mind disabling or maybe talk to slots pachinko and see if they have any spares ( That certain board that is )
When things don't go right the 1st time , Step back ,Take a break and come back renewed. RGS

The pictures of the LCD look like a CG-ROM fault to me. It could be a faulty chip, but is more likely to be a bad connection in one of the sockets, or a dry solder joint on the video sub-board.

Take the top cover off the faulty board and power the machine back up. Put pressure on the CG-ROM chip and the CPU chips on the video board (the one on the right hand side of the assembly in your pictures - ie under the connection board) and see if there is any difference to the symptoms seen on the LCD.

If you can cause the symptoms to change, have a really good look at the solder joints under the best magnifier you have and see if you can see any problems, and resolder the pins (if you can!).

I like the way you think! I followed your advice and pressed on the chips. The game conditions did not change at all. I'm not a good enough solderer to try such a task.

I messaged them to ask if they have one. Thanks for the suggestions.

I am not sure if this helps but I overherd a conversation yesterday that a under powered power supply can give weird things like this to happen. Hope this is a good lead for you.

I installed a working sub control board onto this machine and the problem went away leaving the sub control board as the culprit.
