i also plan to make the red lighter. Lots of time to remove paint but i do it while watching Ghost Adventures. haha. Just a little tip to those trying to dry acrylic paint faster. If you have a food dehydrator it dryies it in an hour or less without heating the fragile plastic pieces too much FYI

Nice job and great tip on the dehydrator. Typically I've used enamels on small areas like that but I think that was mainly due to having only enamels in the right colors at that time. For larger areas I have in the past thinned the enamel to allow it to flow better and has worked great.
Now though, I focus more on acrylics for painting large areas via airbrush. Spraying provides an extremely smooth finish, less toxic, and easy cleanup.
Quality paint pens work well to go over the raised borders on parts but I've found that they streak when trying to cover anything other than a raised edge and they dont fully replicate shiny metallic colors. That might be okay- just depends on how " factory" you want your results to be.
Another method for raised areas that have more surface areas than just edges is to make an ink pad of sorts. I wrap a kitchen sponge in plastic wrap and then wrap that in a blue shop paper towel. They are basically thick paper towels that have a tight weave. Anyway, then pour some acrylic or whatever on the sponge and press the part gently onto the paint. It may take a couple of applications but the result is a part with clean, crisp paint edges and if the color is matched accurately, looks like a factory finish.
This is more work and a little too involved probably for most but I try and avoid results where it's obvious that it's been painted/ fixed. Sometimes it's unavoidable but frequently I've discovered a new technique and gone back and redone earlier work that at the time, I thought was the best result.

I thought of using a rubber roller like for a printing press to roll on the the silver for the edges. Next time

That sounds like an even better idea. Where can you find small rubber rollers? I know I could make one but I'd rather buy a purpose built item.

Found one on Amazon. It's called the Ranger Inky Roller. Available in several widths.

Thanx. I live in Miami ,there are many art stores here. I can prob find one. I also thought about those small rollers used to get air bubbles out when doing fiberglass work. I think a rubber one would be best.
