Nothing faded, all there, nothing broken and working. Very, very nice pinball game. Let me know when you want to sell it, I don't mind waiting 20 years to get it!
Did you get that pinball repair book yet? If you have, what do you think of it?
I know it will be a big help in working on it. Again, nice pinball game.

Here is some stuff that I found about this pinball game.
Internet Pinball Machine Database: Gottlieb 'Universe'
    On ebay, rubber kit.
GOTTLIEB UNIVERSE PINBALL MACHINE RUBBER RING KIT
    Item number 280571091351
Another nice thing to get is to get the pinball flyer and put it on the wall in a frame. If the card has a front and back side, get 2 of them so in the pitcher frame you will show both sides of the flyer.

Thanks for all the help Dalton. So far I've downloaded a few hundred pages of EM related maintenance and restoration documents. I've been searching awhile for a "Universe" and could only find ones that were on rough shape with major cabinet repair needed. So I jumped at this one when I saw it.
Now I'm looking for a project machine of the same type and era to put all the books and manuals coming in to good use.
To answer your question, I have not received that particular book yet.
The above pics are of a machine that looks to be in amazing shape. Like 100 percent restored by a true professional. BUT, that's not my machine. Both this one and my Mini Pool are at about 90-95 percent and they weren't cheap due go their nice condition. But there's stilll a little room to tweak some things. It's mainly just cleaning and waxing the playfields and polishing some of the plastics. Easy stuff while I learn about pins. I'll post pics of my machine today when I resize them.

    Pics of my pin:
Not sure if the original legs were wood or metal like these. If wood I'll get some otherwise I'll refinish these red ones.

Just from looking at the legs on your machine I would say those are the ones that came originally with it. I think someone just painted the chrome legs. If their had been wood on their they would show the marks on the cabinet. Nice looking machine. Brings back alot of old memories.

Thanks. I've seen a few pics of these now and only one had the wood legs. I'll strip that old paint off and start over.
I also found new playfield plastics and new back glass animation plastic that has the rockets on it. The rockets rotate around the earth during the game. Each time a rocket reaches the moon a number on the back glass is lot. When all 8 are lit a new game is awarded.

On my Williams 1990 Funhouse, I have a few things that you might want to add to your pinball. You could buy or make them.
    (1) To protect the the art plastic on the play field, when the ball hits them from the bottom, cracks, chips ext. I got mine from pinbits. Have a look at this sight to under stand the plastic protectors.

This is where I got them form, also this is the same sight where I got the next item, that I will tell you about.
Plastic Protectors : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce
    (2) This item you might need or might not, it might give you a idea of how to make your own for pinball games or even pinchinkos and slot machines.
    RetroBlast! Review: Cliffy's Pinball Protectors
    (3) This is what I also have on mine, the other one on the market that I have seen is made of just felt cloth, cut to fit. This will protect the paint job.
Buy pinball leg protectors from a UK Supplier
    (4) This last thing, I cant rember who I bought mine from. Where you put your hands on the side, while pressing the button for the flippers, you will rub down the paint, these will stop this problem. Also you can add it around the start button. Then are easy to cut and fit. Do a search to find the best price.

My two 1949 Williams woodrails ( Tucson & Dallas ) have the wooden legs and they mount differently than the metal legs and leave different types of marks on the cabinets. They leave straight marks and you can see the fade marks are straight too. Metal legs leave tapered marks. You should not buy rubber ring "Kits ". Just measure the rubber rings and order in bulk and keep some in inventory. Change the # 47 lamps to # 44 lamps especially in the back glass since they are cooler burning and less likely to cause flaking. Pinball Resource in Poughkeepsie NY has all of the parts and manuals, plastics etc that you may need. Good luck.

Thanks for the bulb tip. I'm definitely interested in keeping things running as cool as possible and minimizing flaking.

fixed and sold some of pins which of course means room for more. here's the latest two-a 1959 Gottlieb Queen of Diamonds with a cool, spinning roto unit in the back box and a 1971 Gottlieb Dimension which may be the ultimate EM drop target game. plus great colors and great 70's theme motif.
the QoD has fried plastics and a one of the worst back glasses I've seen as far as flaking goes but. I have not cleaned it or attended to it yet. luckily, repro backglasses and plastics for this pin are available and my set are in one of the pics. i removed the protective film on one of the plastics for the photo.
also on the way is a 1937 Gottlieb horse racing themed machine called Daily Races which is fascinating since it's one of the very few gambling pinballs ever made. it takes nickels and the more nickels you bet, the greater the winnings.
