Stupid question from a newbie

OK I know this is probably a stupid question but cut me some slack. I am new to this and have a lot to learn. I picked up 5 vintage machines at a moving sale recently ( see this thread ).http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/vint...tml#post388566

How do you get the balls to load so that you can shoot them? I put balls in the upper tray on the front of the machine as you would for a modern machine but I do not know how to get them to feed down into the shooting mechanism. This is the case for all 5 machines. What do I need to do or are all 5 borken?

There are no stupid questions here - we have all been in your shoes at one time or another.

You need to have about 100 balls in the upper jackpot hopper before the ball shooter will work. Once there are enough balls in that bin, the "gate" that is blocking the balls from feeding into the shooter should be lifted. This was a design feature to shut the machine down when the jackpot hopper was low so that players didn't lose out on earned jackpots.

Dump some balls in the top hopper and your machines should work as designed.

Yeah. I'm already in pretty deep. It all started with the Planet of the Apes machine which is a blast to play. I ordered a Julie Pinball which arrived today. And then there are the 10 I picked up locally last week. A couple of people have made comments wondering if I have become adicted to these machines. The answer is yes.
