Default Monkey Aligator theme Nishijin model B.

Monkey Aligator theme, Nishijin, model B.
I have a Monkey Aligator model B. It seems the monkey may be held in up position by a weighted string over a pully and when ball goes in upper center pocket it lands on the monkey's head, pushes him down where when the monkey ia st the bottom in the open mouth of the aligator the ball rolls off the monkey's head into the aligator's mouth, releasing weight from monkey allowing him to "climb"the palm just as the ball causes the jaws to close just missing monkey's butt as it pushes down to roll to the payoff ramp. Pa Chinko.

    My monkey won't climb.
The string is broken and I don't know how to begin to get to the area in center where it hangs over the pulley (I guess) so I can re-attach it.
Help me if you can. Thanks!

your monkey is on a string and a weight.. you going to have to take it apart and replace the string..

if you need pics ill see what i can do but it should be easy once ya get into the center feature..

I have one of these machines where the monkey works and I plan to begin a complete disassembly and restoration on it around the begining of December (Christmas gift for someone). If you are still in need of assistance and photos at that time, I would be more than happy to assist. I have restored dozens of vintage machines, but this will be the first time I have worked on the Monkey and Alligator machine.

no it is a simple weight on a string... when a ball lands the weight of the ball slided the monkey down... when he hits bottom the ball falls threw a hole... the lose of weight allwoes him to slide back up...

i have not got into that jackpot feature to much but i would guess the weight may have something to do with the gator... as the monkey falls the gator open his mouth.. then shuts after the ball is released.. i would bet the counter weight is within the gators mouth... but that is a bit of a guess

Any pics and steps taken hints would help me. Taking out staples and nails freaks me out. This is a first tear down attempt for me. I've done lots of tweaking of A and B model machines to get them going but never a tear down to the center unit to repair monkey string, aligator, weight, etc.

We shall work on our machines together then.

You may wish to review this thread ahead of time to make sure you are prepared for a total machine tear-down:

Once you have completed one, they become very easy.

Did you ever get your repair figured out? Remove the center attraction from the FRONT of the machine, and the mechanism will be exposed. String is counterweighted, and attaches to the monkey to cause it to move down with the weight of the ball, and back up when the ball drops into the gator's mouth.
