    Default debugging a cyclic Matrix

    hey guys,

I am having troubles with the matrix

once I plugged her into 24 VAC, the screen lit up, but no sound... then a reset of a lower button got the Japanese lady yelling at me...

but the shooter does not work. almost feels like the dongle's not working, so I checked that and it looks good. I will swap another dongle after I go get it from Salinas.

I checked all the plugs and wires in the area of the shooter and could not find anything loose. no visible damage to that area.

there was some damage over the right lower area, and 2 plugs had gotten knocked out. I bent things straight and replaced them, but that did not fix the problem.

the good news is that if I put balls into the pockets, then the reels turn and the double layer LCD screens make for a great 3D effect.

I also love the music and scenes from the movies.

there also are the 5 resistor pots that were added. 2 are volume, but I'm not sure what the other 3 are for. there looks to be a solenoid added on the right lower side, too.

I know that i'm close, if I could just get the shooter to work. (there's no ground ring to touch. I checked.)

so, any ideas? I did email Kiai, to ask how it was working when he checked it.

where is the earth loop? I presume this means the ground?

this one didn't have a ground wire as it came, since it only had the 100 VAC plug in... unless there is a separate ground wire that I was supposed to connect???

luckydog, I'll get the machine up on a bench with good light after I add feet, and really snoop around in the right front corner. as far as I can see, the only linkage between the front door and the motor switch is a plastic tab. the wires up front seem to go to the lights around the shooter handle.

i'll check input voltages to the shooter motor, too. there were 4 pins. anyone know what goes to each pin?

    more info. more questions.

I found a blown 1 amp fuse on the right lower board. replaced it and it blew again.

can someone tell me what is shorting?

I tried 24vac across a couple motor pins, and got a brief sound and then nothing. hopefully I didn't blow the motor. was guessing AC, but who knows, maybe it's a DC motor?

anyway, still not a lot of progress, except that I removed the front glass and i'm dropping start balls in and having fun watching the different reaches and screens.

there are 2 LCD's, the front one translucent, so you get a 3D effect.

any other ideas on the shooter?

I'll go and ground the green wire that is near the 24 vac inputs, in the chance that affects it. seems like kiai would have noticed if the shooter didn't work though?

check to see if the dongle is shorting, I had that happen one time, swapped it out and all was fine.

    yippeeee

compirate and owennewton were right! shorted dongle.

replaced the fuse and swapped in a spare dongle, and it works!

I'll post some vids tomorrow. too busy playing right now.

love the double layer 3D effect, the injector gun, tommy gun and cell phone that pop in, and the bright lights and strobes. it's enough to give you a seizure.

also, the cyclic is nice, since I have not hit a fever yet, but the varied scenes and characters have kept it fun and interesting so far.
