    Default Abandoned Theme Park

I've seen photos of abandoned theme parks in Russia and Florida. Kinda like the photos of abandoned pachinko parlors in Japan, I'm fascinated by them. Here's a video someone recently took of the Six Flags Park in New Orleans closed since Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

it is eerie looking at those videos, about as bad as the mall in chicago where they shot blues brothers.as far as i know, that mall is still standing because asbestos was found in a previous demolition attempt.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dixie_Square_Mall

that was nice videography and perfect music to match.

looks like the place survived the hurricane pretty well. I suppose if there were people still living there, it could have been reopened.

sad video. Doesn't help that the local thugs have vandilised it so the only option is sell for scrap before the gangs do it for them. Same goes for detroits landmark buildings.

    Smile Re: Abandoned Theme Park

Rather than post a bunch of links, I'm going to recommend going to YouTube and entering "abandoned theme park" or similar into the search box. There are some interesting home videos in there of not only the NO Six Flags, but others.

I may have mentioned this before, but, the only abandoned site I have been to was Al Capone's mansion on Lake Shore drive in Chicago.

In the late 50's and early 60's it was a place where kids in their teens and early 20's would go to drink and make out.

I went with a few friends one saturday nite, we had to climb a 6 foot tall wooden fence to get in the property, then follow the path to the lakeside mansion.

the mansion was built right off the beach and the side of a hill, everything was gutted and only the concrete and stucco building was standing.

the main part of the house was on the second level, the largert room had an inground pool and fountain with a greek statue. the windows and doorways all had curved archways with faded murals all over the room. it reminded me of a roman bath.

the lower level was all small rooms, which we thought were used for his red light business or for his guests.

it was fun walking around and checking everything out. we weren't drinking but there were a lot of others there drinking and I'm sure some couples were out in the wooded area for privacy.

it was fun and exciting because sometimes the cops would show up and chase everyone out

in the late 70.s i read in the paper that it had all be razed and a new hotel was being built at the site

Here's a link to one in Florida, LD. River Country, a Disney park that shut down. I think it had to do with health issues (water).

I think Disney owns thousands of acres in disneyland park area

its cheaper to abandon it then tear it down.

All that glass fibre to get rid of. Easier to let it rot.
