Default How to make a replacement cover Nishijin-B

I needed some covers for most of my Nishijin model B machines, no one had any they would let go. I had some scrap plexiglass left over from cutting the front outer glass. I made a jig out of some wood, it took a lot of sanding to get the right curve and angle. Cut the plexiglass to size, put in the jig and taking a heat gun and heating it slowly. I carefully folded the plexiglass over, clamping till cooled and then superglued the mounting tab on, the frosting was done with 100 grit sandpaper. The clear one looks better but doesn't photograph well.

How much would you be willing to pay for one, and how many would you need?

I am still experimenting with them to find the right material, size and shape. I started experimenting with Fresnell lenses this morning that I scrapped out of some overhead projectors I purchased at a surplus sale. These are a heavier plastic and heat resistant. They are a little harder to work with but are stronger than the plexiglass. It also acts as a magnifying glass!

I think if you priced them in the $5 to $10 range (assuming that is cost-effective), you could probably sell a lot of them to PT members, as well as the general public over ebay.

I know I would buy some from you to replace the missing covers on my machines.

Ok, I am going to do some market research.

The next 3 members who PM me will get one free, just pay the shipping and give feedback on it once you install it. I'd like to know how hard it was to install, whether or not you think it will work, what would you pay for one, etc.

I did some more seesaw covers and I think these look the best so far, but this is a work in progress. Will keep updating till I get it right.

The covers you sent me are perfect! I'm not sure how you can improve them any further.

This material is more forgiving to work with then what I did before, I am going to talk with a local company on Monday to see what it will cost to mass produced them and about fabricating back upper ball trays.
