Default Super Mario Bros., My First Pin (a.k.a. Where the Heck has TailTrauma Been?)

This hobby... Ya search craigslist for pachi long enough, ya see something... ELSE... ya can't pass up...

    (Not complaining, mind you...)

This arrived in slightly neglected but very playable shape. Many bulbs out, dead kicksave, one dead pop bumper, and intermittently working 'shield' (rollover drop target between the flippers). I've been head down in the pin (or playing!) every spare moment since I got it! All sorted now, working 100% and looking great, with an NOS translite in transit to me!

(I'm a bit disappointed there's nothing else to fix, that was fun!)

I guess that means that you will soon find another one to tinker with because the addiction is already there.

I'm not brave enough to own a pinball machine. I'd like to but im not sure i would be able to keep up with the constant maintenence they apparently need!

Awesome pin! One of Gottlieb's finest. You should consider doing it up in LEDs. The colorful playfield and plastics look amazing with LEDs! And it will give you something to do now that everything is fixed.

Thanks for the replies! I'm enjoying the heck out of this thing... the play is complex enough to keep me interested and accessible enough to quickly hook people who've never played pinball before. I paid too much to brag and not enough to bankrupt me or worry that I overpaid.

So far, I'm having a blast tinkering, and one of the decision points on this one was that ipdb comments indicate it is very reliable. The other thing I've noted is that (with all but a few key component failures), the game is playable even if something is not working. I played and enjoyed with a dead kicksave and pop bumper. Another plus is the manual (which I got with the machine)... exploded diagrams and schematics galore!

I've been pondering that! With nearly 30 bulb replacements, half of those that under the playfield, the long life alone sounds pretty nice. Any recommendations on type? (concave/flat/frosted 1-led, 3-led?)

You're right... I've already started to ponder where I could put another. I should be mortified, I suppose, but as I've mentioned before: I'm pre-divorced and I like my toys. So I'm mostly just excited.
