    Default Mystery Envelope

People who bid on Ebay are just simply strange...

Start it with a 1 cent opening bid and a buy it now of $2.99. If you take the BIN you get an additional 2 months free. :-)

How about we do it as a mystery membership and don't use a BIN?

This guy probably had something in there to start that wasn't all that valuable. My thought was that he's now going to HAVE to put something decent in there with the auction at $7,500+. No one will be the wiser and he'll just keep it secret that he switched it out...

He must've cancelled a lot of bids as it was sitting at $14,100 when I posted that this morning.

Don't you guys think that people just bid on these for fun and will never actually pay up? Does the seller actually have any rights if buyer doesn't pay? I guess the buyer could get kicked off Ebay, but would the seller have to go to court to get the money? Some of this stuff on Ebay is getting out of control....My wife said to me that we have lots of envelopes we could sell (all different shapes and sizes).

He was feeling ornery, like you, this morning. He took out everyone with low feedback and told them to contact him to be approved to bid.

    Strange Mystical OUIJA "Spirit" Bowl
    Winning bid: US $6,700.00
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=3774640005

The buyer didn't try to get the Mystery Envelope, so the bowl must have told him the contents weren't worth biding on.

    It's a publicity stunt.

Trust me when I tell you they know exactly what they are doing. They buy many of the high profile auctions and get TONS of publicity for their website. They think "out of the box" and are very successful at it.
