Default New Guy here with Model A single shot

New guy here with a pic of my Pachinko machine. My brother in law brought this back from either Japan or Taiwan back in the early 70s.

Trying to find any info on it, I know it says Sophia on it and it's made by Nashijin, a model A single shot. And saw the video on youtube where they refer to it as a "recycler".

I have had contact with Billy at VintagePachinko.com about dvd's and a light kit for it, as the wiring is all butched on it.

One question in particular is on the red jackpot "see saw" on the back, it seems like there is a Pachinko ball inside of it. Is it supposed to be there (counterweight?) or should it be removed?

Also it's really hard to get the ball to even go to the top of the field, very "dead" feeling. On the tip that hits the Pachinko ball, there is a really cheap-looking spring, sort of like would be inside a retractable pen. Pics I have seen so far the spring looks really substantial, so might need a new spring. Am hoping that's all that's wrong with that.

Ok here I will try a pic, can anyone tell me if there is a specific name for this style, other than what I have said so far? Also is there a date of production on this somewhere?

    WELCOME to pachitalk.

you have found the world's largest collection of pachi, um, experts? addicts? know it alls?

any way, this is a very common machine.

post pix of specific parts or questions, and you will have your answer within the day (or sooner, usually)

this is what we call a Nishijin A. yes, there is a ball in the seesaw as a sliding weight and yes, the spring that hits the ball should be a short, stout one, not a ballpoint pen spring.

perhaps you can find a picture of what it should look like. i'll check my files.

usually with pachi, you can't just have one, so welcome to the hobby that keeps growing and the place where you'll find lots of encouragement.

    found a picture of a B hammer.

also, age wise it's probably late 50's, early 60's. they say that tulips were invented around 1960, then became quite popular.

this nishijin A of yours is called a single shot, which is how the original pachi's worked.

here's my refurb of a seashell one with the same wiring as yours, for reference. I had to add a couple wires to get the spare ball light working, as those had been chopped off of mine, too.

    Welcome to PachiTalk Gilly!

While your taking pics... perhaps a close up of the center of your cell... not that it will help with your questions, I'd just like a better look.

I'll put up seperate posts for the different questions and requests and so forth.

First, the picture of the spring on my "shooter". Mopar, if you have one to spare, that would be great. Billy wants pics of this too, so he might have one as well.

Pic of the center of the cell, which I assume means the playing field.
I haven't found out yet what happens if you get it in the green cup. The red one I know goes in the tulip. I forget if you get any extra balls for the tulip or not.
Also is it normal for some of the pins to be removed at a few of those strategic spots above the chrome cups?

General question, the next pic is of a rod, I think it has to do with the balls dropping from the top bin into the jackpot bin. The rod doesn't stay on because whatever holds it on is gone..I was thinking finding a small circlip at the hardware store?

For your dead shooter, put a couple drops of a light weight oil on the bearings, and work the launch lever up and down, that should free it up. I used 3-in- one oil on mine and it works very well. Vegetable oil should do nicely too. Mine shoots balls off the bumper and almost back to the launch lane.

On the hole in the back plastic. I would say it's to put balls through to check the payouts without having to open the front.

I think it's "operating" OK (not sticky or slow), just not a lot of ball action, pretty convinced it's due to the ball point pen spring.

    nice cell

nearly all 99.9% of all vintage pachinko only have one payout.. same payout no matter what pocket the ball lands in

Assuming Billy doesn't want some crazy price on the spring, I'll probably just order it from him, I'll be buying a light kit and dvds anyways. I think the one I have on there is too "giving" which is taking the energy out of the shot.
