Default Chronicals of a homemade seesaw

After acquiring a vintage Sankyo machine, I discovered the plastic seesaw was missing. Unable to locate another seesaw, I used a seesaw from another machine as a model and made one out of a small plastic jewelry box. The son of a gun works! Attached are some pictures of the seesaw as it was being made.

    I love resourcefulness!!! Great job!!!

Has anyone made an upper rear hopper/ball tray yet? Several of may machines are going to need one. I just need to get off my butt and create one.

    say micro,

have you considered acrylic or ABS? you could cut the sides easily and use glue.

of course the old school way would be sheet metal.

lower tech could be cardboard (I did that for one until the part came up) or core board.

you might also see if one of the tupperwares or the IKEA boxes is the right size and modify that?

    Hi Mudfud,

I have not tried anything yet but I did buy some sheet metal and rivets months ago in an attempt to make one but I just havent convinced myself that it would look good and actually start making it. I thought rivets because my welder would be too aggressive. I suppose I could braze it with solder. Then I thought that might look ok for maybe an older single shot and not a Model A or B.

My main concern is that it doesnt look "cheesy". As close to original as possible would be awesome. I suppose I could go on the hunt for some colored ABS plastic sheets that would match the rest of the mechanical in color.

Anyone know where you could buy sheets of colored ABS plastic?

I have a supplier for plastics in the Denver area (my next door neighbor). Send me a PM and let me know exactly what you are looking for and I will get it for you.

Try finding A local sign company,or A sign supply company. Acrylite plastics makes all sorts of colors.Alot of sign companies ,and suppliers sell remnant pieces ,or give it away.I have used Acrylic plastics over 30 years in the sign buisness. The best plex cenent to use is weldon#5 thin cement. It's just a thought that might help.
