Default the Matrix is coming to Berkeley

    via Kiai and YJA

here's the link. plan to use my "friend in the shipping business"

will let you know what it's like. it is cyclic, too, which I actually like for the moderns. less mess for me and more authentic to what the Japanese with home pachinkos do.

also, I bought this book. though I won't be able to read the text, the pictures look great. i'll scan it for pachi reference.

I was just in Japan about 3 weeks ago and played this machine in a parlor in Tokyo.

It was easily the loudest machine down the aisle, and it got pretty intense during reach(s) and the 1 fever I hit.

That animatronic arm on the right goes crazy and starts to cover up part of the machine...

    I think you'll enjoy it!
Cruising these forums is all that is keeping me sane while I wait for the UPS man...

    Hi Hanabi!

It's quite good to be back, though I don't suppose the wife would agree with that sentiment... "honey, I think you're going to have to stop spending money on pachi's again..." and she doesn't even know about the Allwin that JACKSEA alerted me about...

I will say, however, that I did miss all the people here... or most of them

and, how ironic that in the last week I bought my oldest (the pre-Masamura) and newest (Enter the Matrix).

    it's here, it's here...

showing EXTREME restraint, I left it in the living room and continued on my way to work...

Fedex showed up just when I was leaving and I helped my wife carry it inside. (I already confessed to this purchase )

unlike Kiai's usual packaging, this box was soft and squished in some areas. I did not hear any loose glass (was worried about the double pane breaking due to low airplane pressures). I put my hand in one of the corner holes, and luckily didn't feel anything bent or cracked...

it is going to be a long afternoon here in the office. I promised myself to stay until 7PM!

so, here are the teaser pix of the box, which are all I have so far.

I'll be back tonight with my first posting on The Matrix

here are the unboxing pix. have to wait until tomorrow to put feet on her, before I can play!

I am disappointed that kiai did not use a sturdier box. I am very very lucky that the front tray and light covers or the back covers did not get broken. there wasn't even much stuffing at the top and bottom of the box.

the only thing that saved this is that he bubble wrapped the outside, so they could not easily toss it around. one good hit to either side could have been bad.

also, the glass in the huge window did not break.

there are 4 or 5 pots wired in. probably for volume (2) and then for spins. more to sort out tomorrow.

i'll post a bit of video, though i think youtube already has some. maybe this can be the first state side matrix video?

rich, time for a visit to chewy's pachinko house north!

I just looked at the back of the machine and it has 5 ea 30 mm fans on that back circuit board.

good point. maybe those pots are to control the fan speed of the 5 fans, and they just control extra cooling?

odd that they had to add those later. should have been in the original design, unless the person had it in a non-ventilated case?

more to come. can't wait to get home and play!!!

here's a few minutes of video

I love the 3D double layer screen effect, injector gun, tommy gun and cell phone that pop in from the sides.

great scenes and music. the cyclic is good, since I haven't hit a fever yet

p.s. the wife likes the cyclic setup too.
