Default Tokens. To clean or not to clean, that is the question !

Hey gang, anyone have any opinion on keeping the tokens clean ?
I just bought 1000 used ones, and they really feel dirty, and oily.

I was wonder if that's a big deal or not, if it is; anyone have an easy way to clean 1000 of these things.

    Thanks for the help.

Dip in CLR and then rinse and dry.

Makes one wonder how much they are actually cleaned in the parlors in Japan. I'm sure there's an article about that somewhere. So let's finnd out how often and how they do it

Yep, put them in a mixture of about 1/4th CLR and 3/4th water. Let them sit about 12 minutes and shake each couple of minutes. Rinse REAL well (don't skip here) and put them on a towel. Wrap the towel around them, and shake the hell out of them.

    You'll like the result.

I have two-tone tokens. A lot of them. The CLR makes 'em look good, but after the CLR bath, give a bath in Tarnex. That makes the brass look super.

But, hey. I wouldn't waste my time doing that. Would I?

I used to use some Cleveland copper wedges as part of my golf clubs. Every six months or so, a quick dip into a can of coke and those baby's shined like new! 8-)

If you don't want to use heavy chemicals like that that you MAY not use on anything else....use some dish soap....I fill a plastic pitcher part way with the tokens, add some dish soap (don't be cheap, make it soapy), run water thru the coffee maker to make it HOT....pour it in, slosh around, leave sit for a few minutes, then dump into a plastic spaghetti strainer to rinse.....towel toss to dry, and the oils, grease, gunk is GONE.
I happened to have all those basic items around the house, and it works very well for ALL types of tokens I've tried. Maybe not as sparkly as CLR, but they're still CLEAN, and don't jam in the machines.

Costs too much money and not enough of a difference to warrant the price. Hot soapy water or coke is cheap.

I'm going to try the Coke thing next time. A lot cheaper than Tarnex.

From another one of your posts for handy home remedies: "Coca-Cola Cure for rust... Forget those expensive rust removers. Justsaturate an abrasive sponge with Coca Cola and scrub the rust stain. The phosphoric acid in the coke is what gets the job done."
