    Default Nishijin B

Finished another Nishijin B last night- the case was rotten on the bottom so I removed the old one ( just the bottom of the box) and fabricated a new bottom- this one cleaned up kinda nice- I'm going to take a stab at painting the feature with Testors Acryl... does anybody have a similar feature with good paint I can see? pretty sure I can guess the colors- just not sure how opaque the original was - there is some checkerboard parren in the "wing" area of the feature-

Wow Ebb... Glad I asked for a picture- thank you very much. Did you repaint this? is this original?

Not too sure how to mimic the chrome parts- HAs anybody found a paint that is gonna look like chrome?

I have not found a chrome paint that I have been happy with. All I have tried (and I have tried many) leave a dull silver finish, not shiney. Instead I use a silver leaf kit from the local hobby store. It's easy to use and the finished product usually looks like the original.

There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

I touched it up just a little.
The silver was in good shape. As JACKSJE4 wrote the silver leaf gives the best results.

May I ask how you removed it from the play field.

Pry it up or were you able to grab the nails?

    D' mine is certainly red

I have a small pair of new needle nose pliers- these have pretty well defined teeth that grab the ridges of the nails-

I try to pull on the featrure a bit if I can- then push it back against the field hopefully exposing the lip of the nail- then I grab it with the first or second tooth ofhte pliers and twist 1/4 to a 1/2 turn- loosens it up as I pull it out. Sometimes if I cannot get enough of a grab of the nail I go behind the feature next to the nail with a small flat screwdrive and gently ( I try to be gentle anyway) pry the feature away - but only a little bit- just enough to expose enough of the nail head to grab with my needlenose.
