Default New guy with some questions...

    Hey there.

My sister in law just gave us a Pachinko machine. It's a Nishijin Splenby machine and I have a few questions since I am not a Pachinko guy... I usually collect and restore classic arcade games so this is new for me.

    • There is an LED meter on the front with a teal button, a pink one and a light. It doesn't seem to work/do anything. Is this normal? Maybe this has something to do with currency and payout? What is it for?

    • There are two trays... one is for loading the balls... what is the 2nd one for? Is that for payout from the hopper up top?
    • The silver lever in the upper tray, is that for clearing jammed balls? If not, what is it for?

    • There is a small lever on the bottom tray to empty out balls. Is this typically so one can scoop them up to put in the launch tray?

That's all the questions I have... unless someone can point me to where I might be able to get the manual for this machine.

    Thanks for your help!

    WELCOME!!!

The display and buttons are for parlor use..In the parlor next to each machine is a place to put in money or a card and the display and buttons are for showing credits and dispensing balls..at home these wont do anything...

Unless you have a wonderful thing invented by one of the members here that simulates having the machine hooked up to a card reader in the parlor and makes the display and buttons work to show credits and dispense balls at the touch of a button...while not needed, it is a Wonderful addition to any CR pachinko!! Your machine should have a dongle on the back already that lets the machine shoot balls, a daverob dongle just replaces that!!

You can search for more info on this site by searching for Daveob dongle or check out his site!!

The bottom tray is an overflow tray..When the top tray gets full, winning balls will start filling the bottom tray..

The silver lever in the upper tray, is that for clearing jammed balls? If not, what is it for?
Its just for getting balls from the top tray to the bottom tray!!

There is a small lever on the bottom tray to empty out balls. Is this typically so one can scoop them up to put in the launch tray?
To transfer balls to the top tray its usually easiest to just scoop them out and put them in the top tray..The lever is to empty out the balls into ball trays..either when you're done and its time to cash out or when you are in a bonus round and may be wining thousands of balls..You need to keep emptying it so the machine can keep paying out...You may see parlor pics where there are thousands of balls someone has won stacked behind them!!

That's all the questions I have... unless someone can point me to where I might be able to get the manual for this machine.
There generally are no manuals for pachis, but if you have any questions feel free to ask!!

    Wecome aboard

    MrGneiss Beat me

Although I have never seen that machine. Most of the features are the same.
You can get a tray like this to drain the balls out from the bottom tray.
BALL TRAYS - For Pachinko Balls, Pachislo Tokens on eBay (end time 22-Sep-10 0845 BST)

Don't forget to keep the hopper in the back full up and some sort ot tray to collect the used balls that fall out into the back of the machine.

    welcome to the group
Everyone so far has given sound advice and the only thing I can add to that is to be sure & read the sticky threads in the Vintage Pachinko section to get a good understanding of what a pachinko is & how they work (a lot applies to modern machines as well). Also be sure to read the stickies in the modern section too.
When you have technical questions we have a section for that too. Its an excellent place to search for your question, chances are someone has asked about it before.

Tell me about it. I saw the star wars pachi... and my knees got weak. My wife is only barely tolerable of the garage filled with classic arcades... good thing she loves pachinko machines

*sigh* time to start building a cabinet.
