Default Hello All - And 2 Nishijins to restore

I'm new here so I figured I would pop in and say hi.

    Hi!

I have had these two machines sitting in my garage storage area for years. I just found this site and now finally feel there is enough information in order to start the restoration. So for now I am going to clean them up and see if I can for the most part get them working. I then want to build a new case for them to meet the "wife acceptance" factor so I can bring them in the house.

My biggest issue is the broken tulip on the American Football one. I will probably look at taking the tulip from the other and get the football one working. I'll then figure out what to do with the other one.

I've added a few pics and know they have some parts missing but we'll get there. I have a lot of reading to do in the sticky threads but I've already found some of the answers I've been looking for.

    Welcome to PachiTalk!

Those are really nice machines you have!! I am presently restoring the same exact machine as the one in your third photo, so let me know if you need any help.

    Welcome Terry!

If you'll post some photos of the broken tulip you might get suggestions on how to fix and/or proposals on getting you a replacement!

Great to have you on board!

    Welcome to Pachitalk

seen a few broken machines in my day but dont think i have ever seen a broken tulip like that one... (or the pic is decieving???)

i think a few members have parted out machines before.. so someone should have a tulip for ya.. if you in a pinch i have a few that are forsale but there diferent style and might involve a bit of cuting to get instaled??

Welcome!!! Nice machines, hope you enjoy the restoration (just about my favorite part) and play!

Be sure to check the 'Cabinets' forum for ideas on increasing the wife-acceptability of your machines.

here is a closer pic of the tulip. I've been reading a thread about casting one. Only problem I really have there is color matching. Of course now that I really looked at the other machine, that one doesn't even come close unless I can just grab the plastic part and use it on the other mechanism. I am going to take them off tonight to see how they are put together.

wouldn't the head of that screw change the balls path??? shouldn't they be taperd and smooth/flat to the cell front??

Neat machines, If you look on CL enough, you can probably find another one to part out. I looked at one over the weekend that would have been a candidate, trashed, but probably had a few good parts left. Those tulips should be pretty common. Welcome to Pachitalk! The collective knowledge here is awesome, it's already helped me to restore one (to playable condition), and am working on two more.

I think it's the picture. The screws I have holding the tulips on my Nishijin are buttonheaded like those.

The others do seem to be tapered. When I put it back in I will put that screw on the bottom of the lower ones..

    Welcome to PachiTalk!!

I think it would be great if you could restore both of them, I'm hopeful that with all the info and helpful people here you should be able to find a tulip or a way to repair the broken one
