    Default Restoring Model B Nishijin

First , I have to say WOW!! I am very glad to have found this site!
I have a Nishijin Model B (from what I have been able to learn so far).It is in very bad shape but I hope to restore it to operating condition. It is from early to mid 70's and was bought for me when I was a child. It has been sitting in an old barn for about 20 years and when I saw it I thought it would be a great project to restore it.I have started with removing the plastic ball tracks in the back.I have reached a point where I cant remove the part that "says" NISHIJIN and SOPHIA on it and am at a stand still.I started removing the ball tracks, supply tray, ect. from the top down...not sure if this was the correct sequence or not but I need some help at this point.I have ordered a manuel from an online source that I am sure most of you have heard of, hopefully this will help too.
This website is very informative as I have spent a few hours going thru various threads and topics, but maybe I am missing something here and someone can show me a thread or area that deals with this infomation.
Thank you in advance for any and all info!!

You need to carefully remove the staples that hold the mechanism to the wood, the part you want to remove is screw on from the under side.

I think if you can post some pics of your pachinko especially the areas / parts that you are not sure how to remove etc, then I'm sure that our Members will be able to assist you

A lot of our 'Vintage pachinko' owners will have completed various degrees of tear-down and restorations on all different models and will be able to advise on the best course of action,

Welcome to PachiTalk, I think it is wonderful that you are restoring something from your own childhood, and do please post with any questions you may have

The Nishijin' are one of the harder one's to crack open.
You need to take the whole back off. There are 3 screw' on the back side which let' you get to the inners.

Take lots of picture' and go slow. YOU CAN DO IT

    Welcome to Pachitalk!

I'm not the most knowledgable, but I just took the back off of my Nishijin B Sophia. Lots of staples, and then a four nails on the right hand side (good luck on the nails, I grabbed hold with some vice grips and pulled as gently as I could). Be careful, the top ball tray is attached to the rest of the components on the back with little screws, and you could rip it off if not careful. Also, at the very bottom, you'll need to disconnect the ball chute from the rest (two screws down in the dark brown plastic). To put it all back together, I've been using 6x3/8 metal self tapping screws, and some 8x3/8, although I think I couldhave done it all with the 6s. Be sure to check out Mopar's video on how B's work, once you kind of get the hang of it, they're all mechanical, so nothing cosmic. Welcome again, you won't find nicer folks than are on this site!!!

mine is dated 49 so that makes it a 1972 or 73 production

hi,After cleaning everything up, I have put the back together of my Nishilin Model B.Everything is working and functioning great so now its time to clean the front chrome and the ball tray holders.
The thing is,...I went out and bought another Model B today for 25 dollars and I will have to go through the same thing with this one!! I couldnt help myself I had to get another. Its actually in pretty good shape but missing a few pieces. Its missing the flat piece that holds the balls down on the second ball ramp.also a few covers. I will try to post pics, let me know what you think!!

My B was missing the cover for the balls on the second ramp as well. As I'm sure you've figured out, you need that. I started out with just a piece of cardstock taped down on it, and then fabbed something up with some plexi. Others have bent some flatstock and then held it down with some foam, and then I've seen some pretty faithful cast reproductions on this site, just go thread searching. Regardless, danger danger, I started earlier this year, and currently have 3 sitting in my living room, another coming from Texas, and won a contest here on pachitalk for an Arepachi. Thank goodness I have the world's most understanding wife. We're still on the look out for more, but in this neck of the woods, folks seem to think they are worth their weight in gold.

Congrats on your second machine. Looks in sound condition and is from the mid 70's. Now that you have two you will notice with time that they seem to multiply even faster.
