Default Stuck Tulip mechanics Baffled not working

O.K. this is the Daiichi vintage. There are two tulips on the playfield that have a brass fork lever. Neither of them work. When the tulip is in the open position, the ball sinks and the fork lowers wedging the ball. The only solution is to lift up on the fork to allow the ball to pass. Honestly, I'm baffled on this, I had the tulip in my hand and dropped a ball through it a million times and I still don't get what is supposed to happen. Since I don't have a working one to see the proper action, it's tough. My Sankyo has completely different tulip mechs (much better design IMHOP)...Notice the ball wedged in the third photo.

spread the forks apart so the ball passes threw them.. make small adjustments and ya will be good to go

when the tulip is closed the ball falls onto the ramp.. that will allow the tulip to open.. when open the ball pases threw the metal forks and closes the tulip

Hi Mo, yeah I read your old, old post on that and still didn't have a clear picture. So you are saying to pull apart the fork tangs so that a ball will pass through?? If so, each fork tooth will have to be bent approximately 1/8" or so...not exactly a tiny adjustment.

I agree with Mopar, bend the forks outward and test. They appear to be to closer together.
I've used the same fix on a number of tulips

    Hi Guys,

I had another look at the Daiichi I used as an example for your other post regarding the missing rod.

Mine's a 1973 model and the tulip is slightly different but here are some photos anyway. As Mo stated it looks like the forks are too close together. This may be the case because when your tulip is in closed position, it doesnt look closed enough.

    Take a look.
