    Default Cheap Sound Mod

If cotton balls dont quiet a machine down enough try getting some carpet pad cut it to the size of the speaker cavity and place it in there. My yajyu machine was intolerable with cotton balls and this has made it more that tolerable

That sounds (pardon the pun) like a good idea!

I liked what Syscom did on the DDK with their in-line controls for each speaker. Easy to add. So I bought 5 of them for $15 including shipping. I'm going to giv'em a whirl and see what I think.

I wonder with the cotton balls, and with this as well --- Does the restriction cause the speakers to deteriorate more than usual? I mean the sound wave don't go as far, and I guess the speaker absorbs more vibration this way, no?

On the flip side, better the speakers go out instead of my ears!!!!

I like these volume control pots from Syscom. They will be especially good on the pachinkos which are in cabinets and don't lend themselves to doing the L-Pad. Set the sound where you like and leave it alone.

I have 5 coming, too, for the pachinko machines.

That $15 price from Syscom includes shipping, btw, so it is pretty reasonable. :smt023

Is there a way to install L-pads or the pots from syscom that you guys always talk about without soldering? I'm not to good when it comes to electronics.

You could use b-wires or scotch locks, either one will seal the wires together without soldering

I'm not a soldering pro either.....I just managed to wing it with minimal scarring of my fingers involved...actually, I enjoy working the little bit that I do, on these machines....it gives me a sense of accomplishment, to think that I don't have to wait for my more electronically talented friends to get the time to come over and fix my toys for me.

on my magic monkey i installed volume controls just before the amplifer, it was much easier than trying to put them by the speakers.

there is a ledge right above the amp where i can mount them.

and the speakers light up, so i couldn't use cotton balls on this one.
